New Star Wars sets for 2007!

by Daredevil (General Lego)
Poohbear from our forums has notified us of whats in the new Star Wars sets.

And the clone battle pack has brand new molded guns! Goodbye megaphone blasters! Better say thanks to the Batman line!

Droid Battle Pack:

  1. Contains 4 normal tan Battle Droids and 3 Super Battle Droids
  2. 1 STAP and 1 Droid Carrier similar to the Episode I set

Clone Battle Pack:

  1. Contains 4 Clone Troopers (1 Red, 1 with Yellow Markings, 2 Plain)
  2. 1 Artillery Battery and one Episode III Speeder Bike

General Grevious Starfighter:

  1. Said to contain only 1 minifig; being General Grevious

Y-Wing:

  1. It's a redesign of the previous 7150 version with some traits of the newer UCS version (more slopes I'm guessing)
  2. Contains 1 Pilot and 1 Droid (No specifics yet)

AT-ST:

  1. Redesign of previous 7127 version including 1 minifig.
  2. The one minifig is an actual AT-ST Pilot!
  3. The redesign includes an improved head (resembling the UCS version more than the previous system set) and an improved set of legs.
  4. The AT-ST pilot is the same as the Scout Trooper head; meaning it has the visor/sunglasses printing.

Imperial Landing Craft:

  1. The member who saw photos of the set said it seemed larger than the Imperial Shuttle.
  2. Contains 1 Pilot and 4 Troopers; two Sand Troopers and 2 Storm Troopers.
  3. The SandTroopers both have orange pauldrons.

Ladies as Minifigs

by Redbean (MCN News)

Because of the slight chubbiness (which we all find cute) of a minifig, making a custom female character with a 'figure' is usually much more challenging than doing a male one. Therefore, the latest section of my article on Conceptualising a Minifig deals with the elusive art of making a female figure:

Although, as is always the case, what is written is inevitably subjective and represents only my personal taste, beginners may nonetheless find it useful as a general guide to the thinking behind the process. The full article can be viewed here and comments and further questions are welcomed as always!

San Diego Comic Con

by Kaminoan

Well our own butt0n made it to the San Diego
Comic Con this year and appears to have
gotten a hold of the exclusive Batman set.

She has also taken many great images of
several other Lego sets at the Con.  Her
gallery of images can be found here

I would like to thank her for sharing all
these images with us and think it is
worth a look to anyone interested in the Sail
Barge, New ISD, Tie Interceptor, Boba's
Slave 1, Sponge Bob, and Batman sets that
  were all on display.

She has also been most kind in sharing the
new gentle giant statues that predominantly
feature Harry Potter and Star Wars characters.
  These can be found here.

New Products from Cobi / Best-lock

by Redbean (Contruction Bricks)

A few months ago, Cobi (which is mainly active in Eastern Europe) and Best-lock (which is the 3rd largest construction toy company in USA) announced a merger that aims to solidify their competitiveness in the global toy market (see the news here) and as user pacman110011 was kind enough to report, the first wave of their jointly designed products have begun to appear in the US.

Although not typically known for their quality, in the past, both Cobi and Best-lock have enjoyed immense popularity among customizers for their wide range of minifig-compatible accessories, which fill in nicely the theme-gap that remains untouched by other leading brands. Their recent merger, as result, should only bring good news to the customization community and we eagerly await what the future will unveil for these two popular brands.

Please join us in our discussion of their products here.
