Guideline for Submitting Custom Minifigs

by Redbean
MCN How-To Article

A Few Notes Concerning the Submissiong of Custom Minifigs:

Minifig Customization Network is not, and have no intention of becoming, a free picture archive service. Please understand, therefore, that the following rules are in place to help us maintain our limited resources more efficiently, and make the experience of visiting MCN a more pleasant one for everybody. We therefore appreciate very much your cooperation.

1. By customs, our policy concerns only figures that exemplify the concept of originality; meaning that some of the parts of the minifigs must be custom made either by paint or decals or of some other means. Custom accessories such as weapons or hairpieces would also be welcomed. However, simply taking existing parts and mixing them around (such as placing a Harry Potter head on a medieval torso) does not qualify as a custom under MCN's policy.

2. Multiple pictures of your creations, along with the original design of the decal (if available), are highly recommended and appreciated. However, due to bandwidth concerns, we ask that any pictures submitted must not exceed 500x500 pixels, and that they be submitted in *.jpg format. Any pictures that violate this request will not be accepted.

3. We also would like to encourage that you write a few words about your custom fig in the 'description' section. Thing that you may want to consider putting down can include what prompted you to make this particular fig, what were you favorite aspects of it as well as tips for browsers who would like to recreate this fig at home for their personal pleasure.

4. A proper category for your custom figs will be chosen by the admins on your behalf.

5. If for whatever reasons, you'd like to have a fig submitted by you be removed from MCN's gallery, please contact one of the admins by emails stating your request.

6. For anything else related to construction toys that doesn't fall into the criteria of customization, please consider sharing with us in the forum section of this website.

7. We only host minifigs or decals that are 100% complete. For any work-in-progress which you would like to preview to the community to ask for feedbacks, please post them on the forum.

8. Regrettably, we are not able to accept custom minimates or Kubrick figures at the moment.

Using the interface:

Title: - A name for your minifig. Preferably something short but descriptive.

Path alias: - Not very useful at the moment.

Custom Includes: - Select an entry for your submission. Note that if you are submitting both the complete fig along with the decal/sticker, you can use the 'alt' button to select more than one entry.

Custom Minifig Category: - Again, pressing 'alt' will allow you to select more than one entry. Although this is probably less useful.

Description: - Write a short description for your minifig. This can include the background of your minifig, as well as unique techniques that went into making it.

Image 1-5: - These are images of the complete fig only!! You can have up to 5 images of any one particular fig.

Decal: - Upload you decal here.

Print Size WxH (cm): - Optional.

JPG: - Not really necessary since it is recommended that you upload your main Decal entry in JPG format already.

PDF/PSD: - Optional if you want to provide these.

Decal Notes: - If there is something special that you want to tell people about this particular decal. Do so here.

Forum Discussion: - Only if you want to start a dedicated topic on the forum concerning this particular fig. Only recommended if you anticipate a lot of questions about it (ie. Nickgreat's Red Samurai).

Brickshelf/Gallery Link: - If this fig has appeared in a battle scene, or a story, then please post the link here. Note that this link should not lead to duplicate pictures in your BS account as this will only confuse people.
