Previews of New Brickforge Items!

by the enigma that... (Brick Talk)
In the new issue of Brickjournal (a fantastic publication I've only recently discovered), there's an excellent interview with Kyle "Armothe" Peterson who, along with Red Bean, runs the Brickforge website.  The interview itself is a fascinating look into the history of Brickforge (originally RedBean Studios) as well has how their custom accessories are designed and produced.

One very exciting aspect of this article: two pictures that provide a sneak peak into possible future Brickforge items!

First, mock-ups of potential Roman accessories:

Next, a series of sculpted prototype helmets.

Back row from the left: Uruk (?), "Battle Armor Helmet" (already available), HALO "Mjolnir" Helmet

Front row from the left: New "Winged" Helmet, Dwarven Helm, New Hair Piece

All in all, some exciting new developments, particularly the Mjolnir helmet.  Assuming this piece sees production, I think there'll be alot of happy Master Chief fans out there with both this helmet and the upcoming Brickarms HALO weapons

I've been in contact with Armothe about the Mjolnir, and while the item is still in development, Armothe and Red Bean currently plan to offer a custom visor in multiple colors for use with the helmet. This is for two reasons: firstly, the TLC visor was found to be too large to build an accurate minifig-scale Mjolnir-esque helmet around, and second, they were uncomfortable with Brickforge patrons having to make use of the secondary market in TLC parts to obtain such a crucial component to one of their accessories.

They also plan on offering the helmet in "many vibrant colors", so here's to hoping we can recreate all of our favorite "Red vs. Blue" moments. That Sarge-Simmons duo just cracks me up.

Personally, I'm most excited about the Roman accessories.

Upcoming Brickarms HALO Items

by the enigma that... (Brick Talk)
As posted on the new Brickarms Forums:

At NWBrickcon, Will Chapman of Brickarms unveiled prototypes of two HALO-inspired minifig accessories that will be included in the third mold of new Brickarms items.

First, an "MA5C-ish" item:

Second, a M6G-ish pistol:

A few things about these pictures:

- A release date for Mold #3 (which will include the M1 Garand and the above HALO items along with  few more suprises) has yet to be set as the list of items to be included in it is still in flux, and Will is still actively designing weapons to be included in it.

- Will is aware of the criticism that the MA5C-inspired weapon would work better with an angled grip and don't t be surprised if the final item takes this into account.

- Will produced these prototypes using his home CNC, and the design and colors of the weapons may or may not reflect the final items that are made for sale by Brickarms.

- Will has stated that  the energy sword that can be glimpsed in he M6G picture (and also discussed here) unforunately will not be offered in any way and was made merely as a test of the routing abilities of his home CNC.

Enjoy!

Mars Mission alien with arms? Prototype?

by Radium Radiator (Brick Talk)

Ok... On Thursday my mum ordered a load of food from the Teco website, and with the shopping came a new 'Tesco Direct' catalouge. Me being me looked straight for the Lego section, and I saw this:

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RadiumRadiator/Spacey-thingies/mars_mission_alien_but_with_arms_oddness.jpg

The Mars Mission aliens don't have proper arms, just static ones, which dissapointed many people. So this looks great. I don't know where Tesco got the picture from exactly, because that must be a prototype alien. I wonder why Lego scrapped that idea... ?

So, what do you think of this?

Cracking Mini-figs?

by Mario Man (Brick Talk)
I have some issues with mini-figs cracking... normally along the side of the torso, or up the arm starting at the hand socket. I have taken apart the mini-figs I dont need right now, and organized the pieces into a plastic compartment box, but as I have a *modest* collection right now, everything is very precious to me. I have gotten replacements for some if they get really bad, but I'd rather not do that. Is this just a part of LEGO? Is there some trick to storing figs?
