KKII prices in comparison to other Lego Sets

by starhorse (Brick Talk)
I'm sure this has been discussed on other forums, but just getting back into Lego myself... I just realized this.  What the hell is up with the KKII prices in comparison to other Lego sets?  They are pretty much rediculous.  Not that it's that big of a deal to me, cuz Valdeks castle seems to be the only one worth buying.  I was just wondering if there was any reasoning for this?  It would make more sense if Lego was increasing the prices on their licensed sets.  But by piece count and the quality of pieces you get, the other Lego sets are much more reasonably priced, including Harry Potter and Star Wars.

I guess it just depends on how much you personally value the set.  Plus, remember that even thought he piece cout is low, there is still a lot of large pieces in there, and plastic isn't cheap!

Yeah, that makes more sense.  I appreciate your guys insight on that.  I'm most likely gonna pick up Valdeks castle.  It seems like it's pretty cool.  Lots of valuable pieces.  Does anyone here own it who could agree or disagree with that?

There's a discussion about Vladek's Dark Fortress (or whatever it's called) over on Classic-Castle.com. You can probably find answers to your curiosity about it there, if you're inclined.

(P.S. It's "Vladek" -- not "Valdek" - just so ya know.)

Cool, thanks for pointing me to that discussion.  Hopefully I'll have my hands on this set after not too long.  Looks like toysrus.com lowered the price btw.  20% off, making it 80 bucks.  Not sure if thats permanent for the online store, or just a sale.  Thought I'd post that though in case someone was interested.

I think he might be referring to Starhorse's post:

"What the hell is up with the KKII prices in comparison to other Lego sets?"

Ummm You started it.

Well, I think the prices are so high because they are the only castle set out there, unlike other stuff. And, they can't use so much stuff and not expect to get a good price.
