More BrickArms Mods

by Damien (Minifig MOC's)

A few things I'd wanted to do for awhile and never got around to until recently. Then BrickShelf was down.. hopefully it will stay up this time so these pictures won't turn into little red 'X's. All simple mods here:

.38 Special

Simple operation of cutting a chunk out of the BrickArms magnum and pinning the parts back together. I could probably have gone a little shorter, but I do like it retaining some bulk and size.

Tactical M4

This one was a touch more complicated to put together, but still pretty easy. Started with a BrickArms M4 base, and pinned into place the suppressor and scope from the BrickArms SOCom.

MP5N Suppressed

This is my favourite and the most difficult of the three. Took the BrickArms MP5 and chopped it in half at the forestock. Then, as with the .38 special mod, I carved a chunk out of the piece and pinned it back together. This was to shorten it up, making it more compact. I used part of a LEGO 'flashlight/blaster/torch' piece, with only one ridge left on it, as a foregrip, pinned into place. From there I just added the scope and suppressor from the BrickArms SOCom.

On all these mods in some places I had shiny spots from the glue used in the pinning process, so Testor's Dullcote was used on those glue spots to get rid of the all-too-obvious shine.

Very nice. Maybe you should try to chop the stock and part of the mag off of the MP5 to make an MP5K? Anyways, they look great, my favorite is the .38 Special.

Keep Customizing!

Sadly, all your pictures are gone. I haven't uploaded much to Brickshelf in a while, as I maily use Flickr. Much better interface and easier to use in my opinion.

Hopefully Brickshelf is back up soon so I can see what you've done.

Excellent. I love the tactical M4 especially. Wish I could do things like that...

Thank goodness BS came back up, I was a afraid I was going to have to comment from memory. Great job with the mody's here, especially hiding the shine spots with dullcoat. Makes it look very "finished." Some day I will get me one of those pin vises.

As has been said, beautiful work, Damien.  The snubnose is a beaut, and the work on the tactical M4 is amazing - from what you've posted, looks like some flawlessly clean modding!  That Dullcoat really gives your work an added finished look.

Oooh, I like them all (natch)!  I think my favorite is the tactified M4.  The removal of the carry-handle, replaced with the SOCOM's scope,  and the extending of the barrel via the suppressor balances it out much better than the original.

Damien, where were you when I was designing the originals!  Oh, yeah, I didn't know you then. ;)

You can sure wield an X-Acto!  And nice job with the glue. I used to glue them (rather sloppily, I might add) until I learned of your "pin" technique.   Now, I only glue when I absolutely must, and even then I use the gel-type CA.  Somehow, even then I get the disctinctive white-colored glue residue on the parts, and my fingers invariably wind up stuck together.  It's a good thing I have 10!

Keep up the great work, my friend!
