And The Winner Is. . .

by Damien (Official Announcements)

Votes have been tallied. Calculators have been... calculated... pictures have been... seen..

And the winner of MCN's August contest - 20th Century 'Toons is. . .

SHREDDER

From MCN customizer - berger.

Second place was a tie between J Walker's Marvin the Martian and Captain Bulldog's Daffy Duck, with yeroc's Eva Unit 01 taking third place.
Honourable Mentions to -all- of our unplaced contestants. Trust me when I say that this was a close one and judging was no easy task. The MCN is proud of all of you and happy to have gotten such a wonderful turnout.

Be on the look out for MCN's next contest, coming very, very soon.

To the winner -- a PM with instructions for claiming your prize will be sent to you shortly. From that point you have one week to reply. If no reply is given, or if the 1st place winner is unwilling or unable to comply with the necessary information for claiming the prize -- the prize will be awarded to one of our second-place title holders.

The MCN apologizes for not showing a picture of the winning entry in this thread. BrickShelf is currently down and so the picture was unavailable.

Good Job contestants! I thought that the daffy duck was really going to win, and when i saw the Shredder i had a hard time choosing, even now i can't!

Tanotrooper:

It's an unfortunate fact of any contest that not everyone is going to win. Quite a few people worked hard on their entries and it's never easy for us, as judges, to put down that hard work. If we could afford to give you all prizes for your excellent entries, we would. But try to remember that it is the judges who furnished the prize. We just can't award prizes to everyone, much as we'd like to.

I can also assure you that the subject matter of the customs was not a factor in judging. My own first choice was not even a character I was particularly fond of. And I did not know what an 'Eva Unit 01' even -was- prior to this contest. Judging criteria is more in the way of quality of work (and of pictures, since we have to be able to see the work), LEGO-ness of design, and a number of other factors. Where the character came from, provided it met the requirements for the contest, was not a factor and I give you my personal assurance that your entry was not overlooked due to being based on a 'kids cartoon.'  TMNT and Looney Tunes were 'kids cartoons' as well. That was sort of the point of this contest - the youthful cartoons you watch now, and we old geezers watched in yesteryear.

I'm sorry you're disappointed. All I can say to that is good luck if you choose to enter our next contest (coming shortly). And try not to let your own disappointment spoil the enjoyment of others who also worked hard for the recognition they received.

Congrat's to Berger, J. Walker, and Captian Bulldog, along with all other entrants! I was going to enter, but I made a mistake and missed the due date, so I think I'll just work some more on the Inspector.

Great work everyone!

"That was sort of the point of this contest - the youthful cartoons you watch now, and we old geezers watched in yesteryear."

That isn't true Damien!

We young'ins still would watch those cartoons if they showed them for free on tv without "boomerang".  In my opinion, i like  the cartoons we old geezers watched in yesteryear. Those are much better!

YAY! someone won, I was gonna make stewie griffin, but i coudn't find the time to do it.  anyways, i couldn't wait to see the standings, and can't wait to see the next contest.

And here's an idea for the next contest: it should be the best fig from a book that was written some time before 2000 and it cant be a book that was made into a movie Including harry potter, lord of the rings etc.

just a suggestion, i know that you probably won't use it, but just though i would post it.

Congrats, Berger! Great custom! And congratulations to everyone else. I'll have to enter in future contests, this was cool.

Excellent work, Berger!  I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how you made that helmet. And those arm spikes look sharp enough to cut right through a TMNT shell,  like a light-sabre through a femur.

Well done, and I look forward to your next custom.
