QUESTION: How do I post pictures here.

by AlegoGuy (WIP, Decal & Customizing Chat)
I am really new to this decal making thing and I made a couple of good decals and I was wondering how to post a pic?

Right now you can sign up for Maj.com or go to Flickr. Find a place that hosts your pics online first, then I'll walk you through the steps.

ok, what  I usually do is this. I open up the page that has the picture in it in a separate window. Click on the picture until the address bar on the top has the ending .jpg.

select the address and copy it. go to the window that has the post you are making in it.   Type "[u r l=] [/u r l]" without the spaces. Then move your cursor just behind the = sign and paste the address there. then in between the "[u r l] [/u r l]"  type "[i m g] [/i m g]", again without the spaces.

back on your picture page click the back button a couple of times til you get to where the thumbnail is. Right click on the thumbnail and select properties. now, where it says address select that text. then copy and paste it into your post between the img tags.

You'll know if you did it right if you have a thumbnail when you preview the page. If you have a small enough pic and want to post that directly, simply use the img tags alone.

Here's whats going on: anything in brackets is a tag. It tells this page what to do. when you type url in the brackets it "opens" and knows to go look for a page. The equals sign and the page you copied tell it where to look. the / means it "closes" that part of the code. (think of / as "end") same thing with the img tags. img in brackets means "open" and / means "close" (or end) by putting the img in between the url tags you get a thumbnail and don't need to worry about how big your picture is for the most part. (keep in mind it sucks to be on dial up so huge pics just bite.)

I am including a sample here:

it looks like this in code: (without the spaces in the / tags. [url=http://www.maj.com/gallery/thelegofreak/Lego/lego.jpg][img]http://www.maj.com/gallery/thelegofreak/Lego/thumb/lego.jpg_thumb.jpg[/i m g][/u r l]

I hope I explained that clearly.. I usually do this sort of stuff in person, and typing it out seems a bit... complicated. :-D but really, it's not.
