M1903 Springfield Rifle?
M1 Garand Rifle?
So awesome looking! I may have to get one in my next order, and add it to my WWII soldier MOC. (The helmet was great, so was the M1911 pistol! Thanks again Will!)

I'm very certain it's the M1 Garand, and thankful for it! This will be a much needed addition to the plethora of fine WWII accessories. I feel an Easy Company project coming on. . .

errr, Vidgamer.. Hmm... If everyone says M1, I'm gonna say Springfeild.
Great Job Will! I really can't wait to see it. I have to finish my GI's now. : )

It's obviously an M1 Garand. It could also be the Brittish counterpart, (I forgot the name) but it is the M1 because it is more famous and Will would make it first.

Heh heh. I knew I couldn't fool anyone . Keep an eye on this thread. I'll be posting more teaser pics of the other new designs as they progress.

Great News, Will! I'm continuously amazed by your excellent quality, superb service, and fast new-design lead times. My jaw now has a permanent bruise from bouncing off the floor.
By the way, I noticed the other day that your PPK Spy Pistol also doubles as an excellent German Walther PP . So there's another WWII weapon you already have in production ...
Any hints as to the number of new designs coming out of this mold? Topping my wish list for other WWII designs would be (in order of hope):
M34 Machine Gun (this one is soooooooooo needed)
Pineapple Grenade
Luger P08
Mortar
BAR Automatic Rifle
M1919 .30 Calibre Machine Gun
M3A1 Grease Gun
Any thoughts as to when the new line may be coming out?
Thanks again for all of your hard work!
Shaun

Yep, I have been shipping the cut-down PPK with my German WW2 Colonel for a while now. He really needed a Luger, but I opted to add the C96 Mauser in Mold #2 instead. A Luger would be a lot of fun to design, I agree.

I can't reveal anything yet. My ten year-old son has the final say in which weapons are going to be produced and I've given him a wide range of choices. We are currently producing prototypes of quite a number of designs to make sure they will be perfect. I plan to include a good mix of Sci-fi, Modern, and WW2 items in the new mold.

I have nothing definite, yet. These designs take time to perfect. I have gone through 4 revisions on the M1 Garand, alone! If it wasn't for Badger's keen eye, I would have missed on some of the proportions early in the design stage, and I'm taking my time to make the items in Mold #3 the best yet.

My wish-list has a few still-unseen medieval weapons on it. Think you can help me with that, Will? :) I'll give you a shiny Canadian quarter!
I have the distinct feeling that when BrickArms announces the full-lineup for the next release, you are all going to be blown away. And broke. Very, very broke. Give your wallets a hug and remind them that being empty isn't -their- fault.

Blown away doesn't even begin to cover it. If hearts of half the posters here don't immediately explode from their chest cavities upon viewing just ONE of the items Will has planned, I'll be shocked. badger

I'm a resident World war II freak. I have been studying WWII since second grade (I'm in 8th) and the iron sight has it's signature look and for those who think it is the Springfield '03 there is no bolt.

The P90 has been discussed before, and weapons similar to it. It's not going to happen. The shape and design are anathema to LEGO. You'd never be able to make it so that a minifig can actually hold it properly. A lot of cool weapons have the same issue, such as the FAMAS assault rifle - a personal favourite of mine. While I can't speak FOR Will, I can say with almost 100% certainty that weapons like the P90 will never be made in LEGO form. Similar designs with major modifications to facilitate the static shape of a minifig arm might be possible. But anything with a lot of bulk behind the hand or a peculiar shape around the hand is unlikely or near impossible.

nah its defiently a m-1 garand you can tell cause the lee enfield has a short barrel and a clip coming out of it as opposed to a internal clip. and it isnt a springfield cause the springfield had one barrel and no extra barrel where it stored the gas or whatever it was

I agree 100% with Damien. While I consider the bullpup configurtion an innovative trend of modern rifle weaponry, our beloved minifig stubbornly refuses to evolve to hold one comfortably.
We weapons designers do not have many choices when it comes to our designs. I'm still struggling with the tradeoffs of making a standard rifle stock grippable, and still look like the real thing - not deformed like the hideous Lego pirate flintlock musket (http://www.bricklink.com/PL/2561.jpg ).
Once I solve the rifle stock issues, it will allow me to extend the design to other weapons with extended stocks. Now, while I'm not promising a Lee-Enfield , I will tell you that I haven't crossed it off of the list of possiblities . ;)

Would a hollow stock work? I believe Playmobil had a crossbow with a stock going to about the elbow, but it could be held straight forward, because the stock was "scooped"- that is, the handle was actually *inside* the stock. Would that be possible? 'Cuz I would really like a P90. I love those things.

That's not a bad idea Vid. For those unfamiliar, here's what Playmobil did: They took a standard crossbow (picture a LEGO crossbow - they look similar) and placed the grip off-center toward the right, and gave a slight curve to the stock toward the left. Basically, this allow the crossbow to be gripped facing forward while the stock remained against the inside of the arm. This idea runs into problems, however. First of all - it would be irrelevant to the P90, since the P90's design completely wraps around the hand. If you used such a technique on it, it would look... odd. Completely misaligned. Another issue is that it makes weapons designed that way right-handed only. Minifigs would not be able to hold such a weapon normally in their left hands. And the other problem, and this is a big one, is that Playmobil figure arms are COMPLETELY straight. LEGO arms are bent slightly and significantly shorter. This would present problems as any design that comes up behind the hand would potentially reach the chest of the minifig very easily. Of course, it's still a good idea and something that could be toyed with. No pun intended.

... Vid? Also, the bent-ness of the Lego arms would just require it to be shorter (the stock, not the arm), right?
