Help: Creating a Helmet

by JBF22 (WIP, Decal & Customizing Chat)

I am just looking for opinions and past experiences about some things. First, of the people who have done mando helmets, what did you use for the gap the jetpack leaves? Second, Im a beginner and want to be able to modify and possibly create lego peices. Can anyone recommend something that is effective and EASY for me? Finally, I want to take a mando helmet and create a real, black visor so I can ditch all those infuriating black heads. Any ideas?

Thanks and forgive me if anything I said was exceedingly naive.

For the gap, your best bet is to either use a small slither of plastic from a lego shutter or fill it in with a modeling putty and sanding it. For the visor, the easiest way would be to put a small peice of black tape in the inside of the helmet, or fill it partially in with some type of putty...

hey, great Idea Muiredach! Black tape would probably work great. So would the filling in with putty, since you'd have to fill in the gap where you cut the backpack off anyway..

I suppose the only way other than those would be to cut up a pair of real sunglasses to get a tiny T shape.. and that would take more skill than I have.. :-P

For the record "pls" is not a word. Don't use netspeak here, it annoys the Moderators. Especially us old timers that still remember when people wrote and typed in something resembling a real language. Also, keep in mind that subject lines should be as clear about the content of the message as possible. "Opinions please" does not really tell anyone what to expect from the thread, and thus makes them more likely to ignore it.

I cleaned that up for you. And good luck with your project.

With all due respect, Damien, I believe that there was nothing wrong with my title, given to the fact that helmets were not the only thing in my post.

But your the boss...

Feel free to edit your first post and change the topic title to reflect what you need. I only changed it quickly while I was online because the helmet seemed the major portion of your post. Change it to whatever suits your fancy - just keep it in mostly lower-case instead of all capital letters, please.

You can use some kind of modeling putty to fill in the crack on the back of the mandy helm.  As for the visor, using a piece of VCR tape works well.  You know, the "tape" in a tape?
