Very cool, I am unsure about the Troll. Looks like it comes too close to MegaBloks style. Is that a new helmet I see on some of the Drawfs? I leave out the very obvious joke about the horse's derriere.

It's an interesting start. I'm most excited about the "double-braid beard" that a few of the dwarfs appear to be sporting; I was incredibly disappointed when that item was cut from the Viking sets, and I'm glad to see we might yet see it . I'm going to reserve judgment on helmets until we get some better pics, although the "coloring page" that TLC had up of the dwarf makes it look pretty nice. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7634500@N02/533391619 Personally, I kind of like the wings. They're a bit flashy, but the give the helmet great character. Hopefully they will turn out to be removable or a nonwinged version included as well; since at least two of the dwarves lack the wings, it's a good bet it'll be one or the other. The ogre is slightly too juniorized for me, but then I said the same for the Castle dragon which I now love when I first saw it. As for other accessories - the axes in bronze look great, and the small, round shields that keep the Castle color scheme but with the dwarf helmet standard are fantastic. I'll be curious to get a closer look at the orc (?) figs and their swords and shield. One thing I really like about this set - it looks like we get an extra set of silver armor and a silver helmet with it. They're barely visible just to the right of the second mining car. All in all, so far a great set! badger

I think it's great LEGO is finally moving in this direction. I wonder if these are orcs or goblins though? And are they simply wearing Scorpoin Knight helmets? When do we see Elves? :)

Lego, you need not change anything about this set ( except maybe the price, but we will see how that turns out )! I especially like the winged helmets ( Gondor, anyone? ), and I hope this set comes out in the US soon! My Lego money is already burning a hole in my pocket as is! Can't wait for this set!!

This week has been tremendous!
First the animal line-up from brickforge and now this!
And Armothe, I think they are already on their way with making orcs (or something like that). If you look closely you can see that the figures that appears to be the enemy to the dwarfs, are green and has some kind of grim look on their faces.

While it's pretty hard to tell from the pic, I'd say you're right about he Scorpion Knight helmets, especially since the Skeleton faction uses that particular helm as well. It'll be interesting to see what the face on the orcs/goblins is like - hopefully something fierce.

I think it might be a new design. You'll notice that the dwarvs have a shadow-knight-like-helm, but they aren't because they're shorter and the face opening is broader (to accompany the beard!). That leads me to think it's the same thing, but in black.

Wow...
I'm curious about the troll....
I like how lego hints or forshadows their new products
For example for the mini star wars sets, when they released the first wave there was the hoth poster and in the backround was the AT-ST from the second wave, and here with the new castle on the original poster they showed a troll and a dwarf!
here's the link: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Czymsim/Scans/Catalog2007Poland/32.jpg
If you enlarge it, to the right on the cliffs, the trolls are comming out!
and in the very back by the stone bridge underneath the horses head you can se the dwarf!
Isn't lego great!! :D

I had thought of this possibility as well, but if you take a closer look, you'll notice all of the dwarves' helmets come to a point, while the orcs/goblins (should we treat these guys as Tolkien-esque and say the two terms are interchangible?) sport helmets that are more tapered, much like the Shadow Knights helm. On the fig closer to front of the pic, you can also make out an arch running down the top of the helmet, again a distinctive feature of the Shadow Knight accessory.

Yes, and if you look closely you can spot the skeletons ship in the distant as well. And I also discovered that there are some green guys behind the black skeleton on the black horse. But there are more. If you look to the right just beneath the evil wizard’s castle, you can see an “army” coming with flags and all kinds of stuff. It’s to hard to tell if these guys are good or evil, but after studying the shadows I must say that I think they look to “graceful” to be evil. Could this actually be the elves we want/ has been waiting for?

Wow. Looks really promising. I must buy it!
If you look on the picture, above the doors in the middle there is some kind of golden bird. I wonder what that is. Maybe just a gold winged helmet on some pieces or... Hmm...

lego are finely making some good sets yay. But the new lego castal is about an evil wizard with a skeleton army vs king with his army not about orcs fighting dwarves. so maybe a modify made it who nows. so dos any one have any more proof

The only thing I can discern from those shadowy figures in the back is that at least one is wearing the winged dwarf helmet; he's fourth from the right standing with the group that's slightly elevated. Link to the picture we're discussing
It's also noteworthy that in this pic, the goblin/orc/ugly green beastie below the Skeleton Castle is wearing the "Shadow Knight" helmet in speckled grey.

Wow, I am left speechless by this, if TLC actually releases this I'm going to have to buy it and also I think I may buy the wizard's tower after looking at this picture for so long.

maybe they are something else? I agree though.. goblins should be short like the dwarves. Would make it more interesting.

Well, there's always this piece to make your goblins have to use the step-stool, although some folks are claiming they can see articulated stubbies in the preview pic. That would naturally rule, but I may stock up on a few black stubbies just in case.

Thank goodness for ewoks. :-)
I have quite a few of those legs. and articulated stubbies? I doubt it. (I could be wrong, but I just don't se it happening)

Hmm... i'm not sure about that. From the looks of the spears, they definitely resemble those of the goblins/orcs.

This set is awesome...I've been waiting for dwarves but especially for an orc or a goblin.....but when does it come out? And as maxdevereaux mentioned, will this set even definately come out in America? Also, if anyone knows about other sets related to this one or details on this one, please post them.
