Spacebrains!

by Timedude (Minifig MOC's)

Hello MCN! I supose this is my first minifg custom. Wow. According to my profile, I've been a member for almost 11 months. I think I've maybe posted twice prior to now. Better late than never, though, right?

The Spacebrain Empire

I guess this is the 'finished' main fig. The Spacebrains were loosely based on the 'brainaliens' from a game called Otto matic, by Pangea Soft. Here's a refrence pic. Note: The reference pic is simply a place to start. I'm not trying to re-create the 'brainaliens'.

Here are a few more pics.

I didn't finish just one spacebrain either.

Well, thats it, I suppose!

Not bad at all. Freaky looking, but not bad. What is the head made of?

Very nice space brains. :-D Totally puts me in the mind of the old buck rodgers series type things. Evil robots, rubber monsters, and now space brains! great job!

The brain was made of sculpty. Pink sculpty, in fact. Click to see the original, unpainted spacebrains. They started out as the pink ones. I then did a sort of 'wash' with a red/brown color. Sort of brush on/brush off. Then I sprayed it all with hairspray, and painted in the detail on the eyes. Oh, and this was all with water based tempra paint. It turned out rather well. I'm going to try something simular when I try to make a mind flayer head.

Thanks for the comments!

Wow, that's impressive you put so much work in to these heads. Hair spray huh? I knew Aquanet had use beyond a salad dressing substitute.

Don't let me hold you back. A little friendly competition couldn't hurt, right?

Well done Timedude!  But just for some constructive criticism.  If I may suggest, I think you should add a neck to the custom head and complete the effect with dwarf pants instead of the standard size minifig pants.

Great job,
