What makes a good Mod?

by Droid (Site Feedback)
Is it being here frequently? Spelling? Posting? Customs? How long you've been here? I'd would like to know. Sorry if this is a n00bish question.

A taste for acerbity and the discretion to dispense malevolent justice judiciously ; )

Actually, all the Mods here have about as long a history as one can have with MCN. Without speaking for myself, Mods have to prove themselves trustworthy of the tools given them to govern the "cleanliness" of the forums if you will. The history of conduct is the real determining factor. It's an arduous task requiring many blood transfusions and anger management courses.

Wha? huh?

I agree with the parts of that I understood.. unobtrusive guidance is a good idea, while being able to lay down the smackdown if called upon.

not that I have had to do that..

Having the maturity to never abuse your powers is a major factor.

Isn't this something you, the regular MCN user, should be able to tell us?  What do you think makes a good Mod?

Well, I am very inactive, but following regulations, like pics no more than 400 pixels width or height(I believe that is the most). No more than 12 pictures(again I'm not entirely sure).

What happens if mods break the rules?  I wasn't sure if this was double-posting or bumping (if a mod does it it is probally bumping) so when I saw it i ignored it at first until I saw this thread.  I'm not trying to get Damien in trouble or anything, but I just wanted to know what would happen if a mod broke the rules.

Oh, and I didn't know Legofreak was a mod.

Damien wasn't breaking the rules there so much as he was exploiting a faux pas loophole. You are allowed to double post when you have something to add that you want people to notice with the new post feature.
Notice that Damien said "UPDATE", and that the post was made almost a full month after the last. Popping back on to add an extra thought only 5 minutes after your previous post is not acceptable.

This is one of the unwritten rules of the internet that nobody tells you about, but you slowly catch on to after a while.

Now, what happens when a MOD breaks one of the rules? Dunno, let's find out!

1,000TH POST WoO0OoO0oO0oO0oO0oO0OoT!!! LOL HOW AWSOM IS THAT U GUYZ??

For Shame DeathStick! Setting Such a bad example for the community. Two week suspension!

Yeah, it was kinda important, that is why I thought it was bumping.  Wow, 1000 posts!   Wooo!   How did you get that smiley?  There aren't any smiley features in the post area.

*Psst* I really don't care about the posts, I was just joking because we usually frown on behavior like that.

And the smiley is an inserted image.

Every mod that a have talked too through forum or Pm have been amazingly nice and great, even though i nagged DD about the mcn how to article. All the mods in my opinion are great, there hasn't been one that has upset me or done something disgusting in any sorta way. All the mods know when too have fun with their authority and use it in a good way that doesn't break the rules UNLIKE THE NYPD, AND FDNY AMBULANCE THAT ALMOST RAN ME AND MY SISTER OVER THE OTHER DAY!!!! Sorry, but yeah they don't use their authority to torture you. If you ask for something they'll do it for you, or give it to you no matter what it is. All the mods are very great people. EVEN IF THEY BREAK THE RULES SOMETIMES for fun.

Everything has an advantage and disadvantage, and everything has its place it life... especially people without status...
