First of all, you posted in the wrong area. I moved your thread to the (most) appropriate forum.

Secondly, this doesn't make any sense:

are we like the lord of the rings the third age or are we the fellowship.

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age is a video game (and the next-to-latest written era of Middle-earth history), whereas the Fellowship refers to a particular group of characters within the setting (in said era). A more appropriate correlation would be to ask if we are like the Numenoreans (First) or the Men of Gondor (Second -- the descendents).

Anywho, to answer your question a bit more thoroughly, and to the best of my (probably incomplete) knowledge: The MCN concept began with the 'know how' of our illustrious forebears Kaminoan and RedBean. They were doing the molding of items and creating of waterslide decals before there was a solid community behind it. They also founded 'RedBeanStudio's' forums. The RedBean Forum was the predecessor of the MCN, a few years ago. That site gathered membership (most of our Moderators, myself included, were members of RedBean's forum), and the 'Community' of customizers was really begun.

In order to better facilitate what Kaminoan and RedBean wanted to accomplish, as well as other prominent and important customizers like Armothe, BrickModder, and the like, they developed the idea of changing from an ambiguous forum such as 'RedBeanStudios' - attached implicitly to a single person, to a general website devoted to the hobby. That website is the MCN. The content from RBS was migrated to this new website, and brought along many of the members of RBS as well.

Those of us that were members before the move are the Second Generation members, whereas only the few illustrious aforementioned personalities can claim to truly be 'First Generation.'  Members who joined the MCN near to its inception are Third Generation. Members like yourself that have only come to us recently are more like Fourth Generation members.

Does that answer your question?

Did you consider clicking the button that says "About MCN"?

Before you continue to post questions better left to PMs in the wrong puiblic forums, I suggest you slow your roll.  Less posting, more reading.
