Help needed in making a Commander Cody-Like Visor

by Vidgamer838 (Tips, Techniques & Questions)

Hello everybody, I am working on some Clone Troopers, and they are in need of some visors that are similar to the one that Commander Cody wears on his helmet. I am looking for some tips on how to make this. I am looking to make four. I'm not really interested in using the 'ice planet' visor method, and think that if I tried to make it out of sculpey they all would look too different. Here is a reference picture of Cody. I also noticed that the lego scout trooper helmet visor is somewhat close to what I want. I really don't want to chop up any of my three scouts too. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this? Thanks. -Vidgamer838-

*EDIT*

Yikes, how'd that picture get there? Really sorry about that. Must be some prank on the site I pulled the image from, they just swapped out the Commander Cody image with... that one which had the same file name. I've replaced the image of Cody with another.

Have you considered reshaping this visor?

M best idea would be to use both the snow speeder helemt and the clone helmet to get your desired results.

I would cheat and just cut the actual overhanging visor part off of the snowspeeder visor and sand it down til it fists on the clone helmet.

Then sand the frotn down until I have the desired length.

Customize away!

Hey vg838 thanks for the sig fig!

A cut that size should be done by a dremel. Use the smallest discs they have (The ones I have in mind are made of paper) and start your cut from the bottom to the top. If you make thin slices into the surface of the plastic, you can cut the rest off with a scalpel to *hopefully* leave the visor undamaged.

Note that I haven't cut one of these helmets yet, so my advice is little more than an estimated guess.

Wow Damien, that's an awesome idea! I have many visors like that already, and I would have never thought to use them in this way. They will look perfect beyond recognition! I've already begun working on one. Thanks again.

No problem. That's why they call me the idea man. Well, they don't, but they should.

it all takes time. Just wait around and we'll all get to see the amazing custom coming forth.

And Damien, you should put that in your sig "The official Idea Man"

Hey vg838 thanks for the sig fig!

I don't know who drew it actually, I found it in a google search. I figured it was a good reference picture of what I was trying to achieve.

Expect some new figures soon - - hopefully next week!

Not sure if this might help or not, but I found this online and thought it would be a good way to make a visor. I do not know much of Starwars, but I know alot of Lego, you could use that visor from the old ice planet Legos (if you are old enough to remember them, I think you need to be like 20 years old to remmeber them) but the visor, and cut it out a little, and attach it the same way this thing is... Click Here for an image... The white thing on the helmet of the devis guy is the way I was thinking, just I don't think it would fit, maybe do some more cutting... For my trains, I rarely need to modify bricks, maybe someone else could tell the best way to cut Lego bricks for you. Good Luck.

I used that type of visor you used for the clones for the Boush Leia that i made a while ago.  It is a good one to use for customizing.
