Gondorian Scout

by Damien (Minifig MOC's)

Finally got around to applying the decals for this one. This would be my view of a Gondorian scout in the late 3rd Age. He wears a mail hauberk, over which are leather vambraces and a leather breastplate -- all styled with the White Tree. His lower legs are protected by leather greaves, and he carries a single-hand sword (my first attempt at a Type XVI, posted here some time ago). He wears a simple helmet, and carries no shield.

sweet fig man but i hate the green pants. Theryre too bright. personally i reckon go for a darker green or grey like on the arms.

I like the green. It's a good colour, and fits well with medieval figures (i.e. it's a natural colour that makes sense in a lot of figures).

Darker green would make the brown greaves less prominent. And grey wouldn't make any sense - as on this figure grey represents mail, and he's not wearing mail on his legs. It would only serve to confuse the style of the figure.

Thanks for the feedback!

Damien, I think that this is one of your greatest works. I really like the decals you've designed, and the face suits him really well! The green is the best choice you could've made for the legs, and the belt (as small of a detail as it is) brings the whole figure together. Really great fig Damien!

"I" also love the decal work you did, knowing how small a minifig is. to see such detail work on the decal especially the White Tree. to see branches clearly is an art. As for the green it's perfect for a scout, it's blends in so well with a forset theme. have you try using a hood on him as well?

I can never get the greaves right but you pulled it off nicely. I totally understand the green, but for some reason I can picture him at a rave too easily. I also like the mail/plate overlay, my favorite style. And of course the sword really finishes him off. I would suggest a different color for his saddle, bright red is too distracting. Once again you have upped the ante in the Men of ME collision between us! ; )
