Ah, Ben! Thank you so much for your wonderful opening speech on the frontpage! You've been too modest about your role in the UAS, though - something I've fixed in the 'UAS Acknowledgements'. ;) You're a great friend!

*clears throat*

Dear Customizers of MCN, Fellow Fans of Lego - My Friends, I Salute You!

Today, is a day I have been getting ready for a long time. It is 31.10.06 - Halloween. It is the first day of my very own website. Thanks to your support and your interest in my customs and other hobbies of mine, I am proud to finally present the Unknown Artist Studio to you. Today is a day when a dream comes true - and that is worth celebrating!

The long-anticipated UAS Store is finally online - for now, unfrotunately, for US residents only. International customers will still have to send me an e-mail order, but I hope to fix that in the near future.

The UAS still has a lot of unfinished pages, unwritten text and untaken pictures, but those will fill in with time. The Art of Customization section, where I hope to share a few How-To's regarding my fabric accessories with you, my friends, is already in the works.

In the near future, I am planning to include a full database of my MOCs and Minifig Customs, as well as some of my drawings and 'digital art'.

So now, in just a copule of minutes, at 00:00 GMT +8, a minute before All Saints Day, the homepage of UAS will be online for the very first time. I hope that you give it a visit and even subscribe to the UAS Newsletter.

http://www.Unknown-Artist-Studio.com

Well, your turn, guys! Let me know what you think! Comments, criticism and Suggestions are all welcomed!

Yea Victor!  I'm not on for a while, and look what happens!  ~smile~ Congratulations - your site is gorgeous, and I look forward to browsing it more, especially as you update. Bravo!

by Lamanda2 on Tue, 10/31/2006 - 23:18

Great work Victor! I was waiting to see this, and for the very first time ever. ;)

It all looks great, and the loading time is all good, all  a matter of seconds. (Yay!) Good luck to you now, I think we can all help scratch the 'un' off from your name by using your great Cloaks and Vibroswords in our work!

Congrats!

Hey, this site is fantastic!!

Great work on the design, Victor. The stuff you sell is very cool ,too, but I think I'm not buying anything.

Please don't stop working on your site, we're all waiting for the next update.

Good luck!

Excellent site layout; I love the money logo for the store! I can't wait to order some products. And by 'some' I mean 'one of everything' One thing I was a little confused on, when I click on the sleeves, it brings me right to the hooded cloak + sleeves. Can you order them seperately?

And by the way. I'm totally confused as to why I'm in the acknowledgements. I really wouldn't have been offended if I was left out. ;) and if I had any tech skills I would've helped out as well to earn that spot, but unfortunately that's beyond my area of usefulness.

by Peter_Nix on Wed, 11/01/2006 - 13:16

Congratulations again Victor! The site looks great but I can't wait until you get the chance to update the art/MOC/customization sections- I know... patience :D.

Ooh, I'm digging that vibrosword.  You probably expected this question from me, so I'll ask it:  Is the vibrosword a cast, or is it injection molded?

Here's wishing you great success in your new endeavor, Victor!

Its a cast Will. UA does not have the money for injection yet.

Congratualtions on the launch (sorry it's so late, I was away for a while)!

Everything looks great, compact and easy to make out, brilliant job on all of this.

Anyway, I hope you can keep up with everyone else in the lego market (and I'm sure you will be able to with these products), so good luck with all of this.

Hey UA, great site and layout, but don't you think the prices are rather high? $16 for a jedi/sith hooded robe... i miss the days where you got the templates for free =(

No offense, but the stuff he uses gets really expensive... especially since he lives in Turkey. It is even more expensive there. Also, the time it takes to make the stuff... ugh.

My friends! Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!

Apologies to anyone who still hasn’t gotten a reply to their pm/e-mail – I am working on replying to your fantastic letters, as well as sending in the UAS orders. Should get over the 60 unread messages in my inbox pretty soon… ;)

Zach: Merci beaucoup! Of course you helped! I got all that wonderful feedback from you – and I improved a lot of things thanks to that. I wish there was something more that I could do – other than putting you in the end of a list with many other good people on it. :D

Matt: Hey, don’t be that modest. Who drew the first ever Visco Limos fanart? ;)

Eelie: Thanks for your compliments, my fair lady – nice of you to pop into one of my topics. :) I plan to update the Studio at least monthly – perhaps even finish the ‘skeletal site’ till the New Year. We’ll see.

Amanda: What would I do without you? It’s great to know that the loading time isn’t as terrible as I had thought! :D You are always welcome to leave an order with the UAStore. ;) I’ll make sure to send in a few bonus items!

Baggins: Thanks, man! I’m planning to upload the Art section next, but I will of course post a couple of spoilers in our ‘Pub’ forum. :)

Sticks: Nope, I thought that it would be better to make a discount and sell the Cloak and the sleeves as a set – you can’t order them separately just yet. I hope to change a few things in the design, making them really ‘removable’ – perhaps they will be available for purchase separately then. Hey, you aren’t suggesting that I should forget the best April Fool’s Day Prank of the MCN, are you?! ;)

Alan: I wish you knew how impatient *I* am to upload something new every day! I unfortunately don’t have as much time for the UAS as I’d like these days – I and a group of friends decided to enter a web design contest, so a lot of my ‘hobby’ time goes there. I am still writing stuff for the Studio – but things just don’t always go as planned. Remember, the UAS premiere was first scheduled for August… ;)

Miniking: Hi and welcome to the MCN. I am glad that you like the studio – and when it comes to the posable arms, I am getting ready a tutorial to help anyone interested make their very own posable arms at virtually no cost.

Ethan: Well, unfortunately, Turkey has enough orphans itself – even if I ever get ‘known’ I’d first try to change a few things here. Africa has superpowers aiding it, and a former ‘Unknown Artist’ will not make much difference.

B-El: Well, firstly, ‘Vic’ is reserved for my sweetheart, so pick something else to call me. :D Otherwise, thanks. The UAS took me at least 6 months of constant changes in design. I’m pretty satisfied with the result now. Glad you liked it.

Kunai: Yep, I know the prices are a little high, but the prices in general are high in my country. It takes lots of time to make each of them – they are all complex designs, most requiring at least two glue points. These aren’t your classical ‘capes’. ;)

Arealight: Thanks a lot! I highly appreciate praise from such a pro like you!

Will: Thanks! As Ben said, I do not have the funds necessary to produce the Vibrosword in such a professional way, though I haven’t actually searched for a suitable Injection Molding company over here yet – and do not know the prices. According to what you say, however, even the cost of one/two molds of my stuff would probably be much more than I can currently spend on the UAS. The casts have slight imperfections on the sides due to the structure of my two-part silicone mold, but that can be easily removed by some minimal sanding. It’s never going to be as perfect as one of your guns, but I think it’s pretty good quality for a resin cast – I wouldn’t dare selling anything less to our customizers! ;)

Ben: What do you mean by that ‘yet’? Do you have a plan to make me rich? ;)

Alec: Thank you! I don’t really see my UAStore as a competition to the others – I just wanted people to have a little place where they could get the customs, not that I’m looking forward to making profit or anything – and I’d certainly like you guys to think of the Studio as a ‘website with store’ and not a ‘store with a website’. I hope to make it more of the former by updating its other sections – Art, MOCs, Writing and, of course, Customization.

Jeremy: Thanks – I really appreciate the criticism! When it comes to the production costs, well, Zach is right - this not a mechanically-created part or a printed decal. I do it myself with great care. If you don’t think that it’s worth it, please feel free to make your own. :)

You know, I also miss the good old days when I could trust people not to steal my work and sell it on eBay. The days when you could put all of your decals on B-Shelf and be happy when others used them – not worrying about someone showing off your work as theirs. That is why I will not post the templates online anytime soon – sorry. I regret not making them available for you guys, since I trust and respect you all as customizers and creative people – but there are others out there, people who can create nothing, but will not hesitate to steal others’ work.

My friends, I again thank you very much for your great feedback - you can’t imagine how much I appreciate it! I’ll keep you updated! Cheers!

Look, Victor, i was talking to Saber Scorpion about this yeterday, people claiming SS's Stuff as theyre own, no credit there, well i suggested a few things, but i think on your templates, you should put passwords, so they can save the file as a zip but have to have the password to open it. just a thought, it won't stop criminal masterminds after a UAS cloak, but it will stop petty thiefs ;) and i hope that i get a spotlight on the UAS, you told me not to be modest so i won't be ;) well you did promise i'd get my Visco Limos Art up on your art page, i have waited ages and my heart hurts from the tension, i as your no.1 fan (i claimed it first >:) ha ha ha) would give you advice on buying things... well an injection set for you Vibro blade would be a good idea, definately. First you need people to miraculously find your site, by sending pop-ups, cookies, the works ;) but i search lego on google i have to get to like Page sixteen to find MCN, so you need to be noticeable, first, pay off google so that they pretend not to notice anyting, and get them to put your site up on the first page, as the first url no matter what they search for, then, you need to secretly kidnap the primeministers of the world and force them into having a link to your site on the mainpage of parliament as such, and send lots of dosh to the mafia... need i go any further??? if so we can carry on in PM, but i'm giving you the idea that you should add tags to your site, so when searched on google... tada... ;)

Wow you had a long post, Victor! I guess it shows how popular you are. ;)

Anyways, I wish I had the talent you had. Your site, your work... they are all amazing! The store pages are my favorite, and I can't wait for the art and customization pages!

By the way, if no one knew... I am the Zach that Victor talks to.

Sorry for the late viewing...

Really professional looking page! (of course, I didn't expect less). I echo your sentiments about templates and such.

Btw, when are your stuff gonna be "overseas" ready? Heh.
