A couple mods by Pacman

by pacman110011 (Minifig MOC's)
Here are a few mods of mine. These are edited pictures because I don't have a camera or a scanner, but I have actually made these. First is this shotgun made from a rifle and a fireman's axe. It was made for one of the members in my S.W.A.T. team. Next is a simple LA sword mod made by somebody other than Damien ;). It is a hand and a half sword as I pictured it. It was made for the character Murtagh from the Inheritance trilogy(Eragon, Eldest, -final book not out yet-). Damien will probably criticize the accuracy of the sword(it probably isn't an accurate representation of a real hand and a half sword). I hope you like them. -Pac

Hi Pac, I like the weapons! I guess this means the SWAT team is continuing? How far along are they? How many of those shotguns did you create (or planning to create)? Don't forget about the shoulder-stock version as well (maybe for SWAT's adversaries, or other Cops on your force).

Thanks Alan, I have only made one shotgun. My SWAT team is finished and I have purchased a disposable camera(my mom can scan the pics I take at her office). There are 4 members of the team- one weilding this shotgun, one with a LA M4 and Mp5(it looks cool even though it isn't a probable weapon combination), one with a LA Mp5 and a riot shield, and one with a brick of a sniper rifle(hopefully will be replaced by Brickarms one soon). I don't know about making a shoulder stock- seems to difficult as of now(unless I make one out of Sculpey...). Any comments on the sword? -Pac

Pac, for the shoulder-stock version, just don't cut off the shoulder-stock from the rifle. I like the sword but I would've filed the serated parts down a bit- looks like something for Conan- ref pics on the actual sword?

Don't cut off the stock to have it with a stock... interesting idea ;). It isn't based on an actual sword- its based on my imagination but here is a pic of a hand and a half- http://www.islandtactical.com/coldsteel/88HNH.jpg . Its basically just a longsword but I have used up all of mine so I decided to mod one and it would be unique. It looks pretty cool in person and the serated part makes it look vicious(Spoiler: Murtagh kills a defenseless slaver and later actually joins the side of evil). -Pac

When I first saw your pic of the sword you created I was wondering if you trimmed the pic a bit too close to the handleguard tips, but seeing the pic of an actual sword of it's type just proved for a change my wrongness. Anyway, the serratedness definitely gives it more of an intimidating look to it (points to the front...points to the side...one way or another, you'll get the point! :D ) As for the "actual sword" request, I meant from the book- I'm guessing that sword is serated and might be shown on the cover. The more I think of it, I have a curious question, while the shoutgun pic above is not the actual gun, I'm guessing it's as close to an exact replica as possible, as such, the axe handle would be the pump action loading mechanism- shouldn't the actual axe piece be cut smaller (perhaps half the size)? I do hope you won't mind too much, perhaps I'll break out a rifle, axe, superglue and instrument of sharp destruction to give either my cops or Special Forces a shotgun to play with.

Nope, the only pictures on the covers of the books are dragons. And to make creating customs from Eragon- I have some problems. Christopher Paolini(the author) is very vague and he never describes people or items very well(for example he the only descriptions he gives of Durza the Shade are the color of his eyes, hair and clothes- no actual descriptions, only color). And I know what some people would think- "They are making a Eragon movie so just base your customs on that". That won't cut it though- the movie did a terrible job of representing characters and items(pm me for more on this). So basically what I am saying is that hand and a half sword is the only thing I had to go on for my custom. As for the shotgun- the axe is the bar that the pump(oh boy, this is a hard explanation) slides on, if you know what I mean. The actual pump isn't an increase in thickness enough for it to be a separate part so I planned on painting it onto the axe... never got around to doing that- I might do it soon. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/pacman110011/made/shotgun_2.jpg Thats just an idea of what I am talking about. And I would love to see your shotgun! -Pac

Oh well on the sword. As for the shotgun, I understand what you're design is, for me your explanation was perfectly fine (as for explaining gun parts, if not for my M16 tech manual, I'd have a hard time naming the pieces- I can take it apart, probably even with my eyes closed (okay, maybe only one eye closed- it's been about 15 years) but I don't remember the names (not even in hebrew)). As for my shotgun, first, it's been so long since I've dealt with those rifles, I forgot how long the shoulder stock was, so I'm debating about trimming it down or removing it altogether like you did. Second, I was thinking on leaving off the "slide bar" (let's just call it the "slide bar" for now since I don't remember it's given name, don't know if I have access to a shotgun parts reference manual, and as much as I'd appreciate Damien's input since he seems to be in the know on these things, I'd rather not bother him about somthing like this. "Slide bar" sounds workable for now until I can look it up), and using the claim that the "slide bar" is just too small to be seen (unless I start nitpicking myself to be accurate in which case I'd have to make the "pump-handgrip" larger than the "slide bar"). If I may make a suggestion for your shotgun though, seeing how that's the "slide bar" you're showing, I would have attached it closer to the finger guard. Also, I'm guessing you thought about this as well, and it's something I plan to toy with, the hammer on the rifle could be removed- it's a pump-action shotgun (of course it could be another sighting piece). Hopefully I'll assemble my shotgun version 1 soon.

-Alan

EDIT: Shotgun assembled and PM'ed.
