?New? custom colt pistols on Ebay, I think.

by JPCJedi (WIP, Decal & Customizing Chat)
So I stumbled across this awesome lot of custom Wild West pistols on Ebay, and I've never seen them before in my life. I did some googling for "lego colt" and couldn't find anything suggesting it's a private injection-mold job, and a search on this site similarly turned up little of help. So, anybody know where they come from?

I've never seen them before, but they are cool!  I wonder if they come from a clone brick company, or an action figure of some sort.

They're Playmobil guns.

Yup Damien is right, I've got a few of them, I'd take pictures of them for y'all but they're locked away in storage.

How do they measure up with minifigs?  Do they fit in the hands, etc?  Does anyone have some they can take pics of to show the size difference?

They are a lot larger than a standard lego pistol, and I don't think that they're compatible, as the grips are to big or too small, I can't really remember which.  I suppose you could trim down the barrel and use a bit of styrene or something to make it work, it would have quite a nice result.

Yes, they are Playmobil.  They are beautifully crafted. You can see a metallic effect swirled into the plastic giving them a blue-pearlescent look when viewed up close.

They are a bit oversized for use in Lego, but they might be suitable as the massive Walker or Dragoon pistol for an American Wild West scenario.  It makes the Lego revolver look like a stubby derringer by comparison.

When I sold my Playmobil as my sons outgrew them, these were the items I knew I would miss the most. I kept only one pistol, and store it on a miniature red velvet pillow, in a tiny acryllic case.

Does anyone have or know of any shots of these guns in a LEGO minifigs hands?  I'm looking to beef up the weaponry of a few of my calvary figs and my Leone faction (if I have to explain what that means, you are the type of person who digs), and these look like they might be perfect, assuming they fit in minifig hands.

Badger, the fit and size difference would be pretty much the same as that of the Playmobil swords I sent you comparison pictures of -- in terms of how they fit in a minifig hand. (I.E. Poorly, but can be modified with some work)

As for length, as I recall the Playmobil pistols are a hair shorter than the BrickArms assault rifles are. Pretty big for a pistol, but you might be able to make it look okay. Hopefully somone has actually pictures they can share.

High school locker room jibes aside, Deathwalk, if you do have a few of these firearms, as I mentioned before, a pic of one in LEGO minifig hands would be most appreciated.

i have afew of these guns, and unfortunatley, if you make a lego fig hold them their hands usually break

which is quite bad...but with a bit of sanding ANYTHING is possible :D

Much obliged, Will!

I can see the curve to the handle is a bit of a problem, so I'll certainly be modding that so the pistol can be held a bit closer to the body.   As for the size, I like the oversized look they have - gives them a look of power with a hint of caricature.  Perfect for my man Joe "Blondie" Manco ;)

(sorry it's been a while. I should visit MCN more often.)
Thanks for that pic, Will! So it does fit in a Lego hand. A bit deceptive for that Ebay auction to call them Lego-compatible, but they are awesome guns. Maybe I'll go for the next batch I see on ebay.

This is a year old topic I doubt anyone who postid on this is still involved in it, and a Mod will probably lock it in a minute.

Right you are Captain. Though it is fun sometimes to read through these old topics and see how pleasant and involved everyone used to be.
