Hi Dalekdevil, ideas? Well, I don't recall anyone trying the new Battlestar Galactica uniforms yet, the old series is not bad either. Colonial Marines from the movie Aliens might be interesting. Predator? I know its been done at least once or twice. Super heroes at least from Marvel and DC have been done- what about some of the other comic companies out there? I was originally thinking that bands might not be such a great idea- since they look practically like Joe Anyone, but then it hit me, KISS, they'd be perfect and they're fairly famous (but if you ever do "Type-O Negative" (I don't know if they fall into this sort of "famous" catagory), that, I definatly would like to hear about (I think Josh's daughter would either get a kick out of that or be totally freaked out : ) ). Anyway, good or bad, those are some ideas that I could think of at the moment. Hope it helped.

Well, books always inspire me, there are alot of great characters in books, no matter what kind of book you are looking at really, take Waldo for example, I found the book on our shelf and was reading through it for about a week, it took me a while to think of making a minifig of him, but I was rather pleased with the end result, and now I have been planning to make the rest of the crew.

Even things that aren't a certain someone can turn out neat, you know, everyday people, like a mad scientist for example ;-)

El, at the risk of misinterpereting Thomas' statement, it could possibly be read as a very enthusiastic way of sharing an idea. Besides, hopefully you'll be showing us the results of your work DD (I'm sure TG would like the decals posted as well (I admit, I probably wouldn't mind that either- but as the topic said: ideas not requests)).

Stupid idea this time (like it would be my first) so take this as a joke, but since people are suggesting everyday people, why not (for those who would go along with it) pictures of MCN members (it would take away from any anonymity people may have here so it could be seen as a possible security problem, so if you think its a cute idea or if you actually think I'm serious- it could make for a good "family photo" at the end- volunteers of course). Personally, I stay away from "everyday people" unless I was creating a city or something- I'm more into adventureous and sci fi types of characters.

Which just gave me a new and this time serious idea: Indiana Jones and other characters from the movies (I know, Johnny Thunder or whatever his name was done already). James Bond.

At the risk of incurring someone's wrath for saying this (and sounding stupid)- I'm still trying to figure out what "sig fig" is all about- never really looked into it completely, but I have ideas just based on it's name. As I said my idea above was a stupid one meant a bit as a joke (with some seriousness in it), but what you counter-suggested, Deathstickman, sounds even better. However, my guess into the definition of "sig fig" would be that's the person's avatar- for some of the avatars that might be a bit dificult to translate, wouldn't it?

Not really an avatar so much as a signiture figure. You can make anything you want, and it doesn't have to be in your likeness. EX: UA uses his black fallen jedi.

This gave me a really cool idea for a vig..... but I won't tell you.

I did actually know what "sig fig" was short for, thanks anyway. Deathstickman, Babyjawa, thanks for the explanations. I figured that that would be the definition of sig fig but one of these days I'll figure out the actual difference here between the Avatar and Sigfig if the SF doesn't have to look like you. But I'm off topic so I guess thats it for now. Thanks again.

Back on topic: Sitting here drinking a cup of coffee, I'm loking at the Snoopy pic on it's side...Peanuts characters (Charlie Brown as a minifig?) or some other toon character (Calvin and Hobbes?). Who says you can't be inspired by a cup of coffee?

Hey DD, earlier on in this thread, you said that you wre not that good at faces, so insted of continuing making torsos, which you are excellent at.
Why not try and learn a new skill and practice making faces. I often draw random faces and torsos, that I never post on MCN, because I do it to practice my skills.

You're gonna hate me, but I'm just tossing out ideas, can't wait to hear what you end up doing. While he's not a band, what about Elvis? I know you don't do faces (neither do I, I traced mine from MLCAD and then modefied them with Photoshop), and don't do mideval, but what about pirates, such as Pirates of the Carribean? I think you have enough ideas from me by now, so I'll try to shut up now. Later.

Well in that case, I'll put it the way I think of sig figs.

If you lived in a lego world, what would you look like, and how would you dress. In a way, it is an avatar, it's just a minifig you can pick up and play with.

Kewl, you serious? You think 'Queen' is bad? Oh, c'mon! What do you think of 50 cent, then? Britney? Garbage? I personally think that groups like 'Queen' and 'ABBA' should be considered classical music!

Anyway, back on topic: DD, I think that some PC-Game based characters would be cool - perhaps something from Half-Life, Max Payne (if you played the game) or Mafia - City of Lost Heaven. Those are all good games anyone who has a PC should play, and I would certainly love seeing the decals from you. Some Matrix decals would also be appreciated!

          I went to Six Flags over Georgia Thursday, and wanted to make a classic Looney Toon mini fig. Maybe somthing easy like a Bugs Bunny. Maybe you could use Mr. Krabs Head as the head for him. That gives me a good idea.
