Even more DragonballZ custom figs

by NickGreat (Minifig MOC's)

No sculpey pieces required for these, so they were loads easier to do.

I'll say MY Yamcha is the best Yamcha custom made! ( no one ever bothered to make him, so I win by default. Ha! )

What do you guys think?

Thanks once again to RB for printing the decals and providing TH's beard!

I don't watch it, too, but I like them, because they look like minifigs lego has made.

by fry_slayer on Mon, 06/26/2006 - 23:13
What can i say?
Thumbs up for the best DBZ minifig customizer in the world

EDIT: Btw Nick did u got my previous pm?

by badboytje88 on Mon, 06/26/2006 - 23:17
Oh I love your krillin, hes just so quite and cuddely, no just kiddin, they all look spon on. Although I thought turtle hermit's name was master yoshi... but whatever, I love the fact that you didn't use merlins beard, but that you used TH's beard, really great. Where did you get the orange dwarf legs, did you cast em or did you paint em? oh and how do you get so many spare pink heads to modify?

by Pharazon on Tue, 06/27/2006 - 00:08
Add me to the list of non-DBZ watchers. But these customs are still obviously great Nick. I never think I like the flesh tones but these work out well, as your other flesh toned fig have. I would ask some questions but it would appear Badboy already asked a few that I had.

I used to watch DBZ, and I probably would again, if I had nothing better to do.
Also did you use softening solution on krillin and turtle hermits face decals?
what program do you use to make your decals?
finally, I thout that turtle hermit was called master yoshi too.

As a mega fan of DBZ himself I am sure Nick is fully aware of this information... but as i recall initially he was simply call the "turtle hermit". More vintage anyway.

Anyway Nick did u came up with a custom turtle shell to complete the fig? ^^

P.S. Ya i notice some glitch in the forum too, user registration is inconsistant, anyway just to be sure there is a new PM for u.

by NickGreat on Tue, 06/27/2006 - 02:31

Thanks for the thumbs up, everyone. *sniff*

fry_slayer;
Thanks! I wouldn't call myself the best DBZ customizer tho...
I actually wanted to give Turtle Hermit a shell, but I got kind of lazy... Besides, he didn't carry it much during the "Z" episodes. Then again, hmm....

badboytje88;
For Krillins legs, I spray painted them orange.
Those light flesh parts are easily found on Bricklink (think HarryPotter). Brasso from a local hardware store.
I'm wasn't actually too sure about Turtle Hermit's name. But I picked it up from the net (as with all other names here). You must understand that I've only read the chinese translated manga.

Pharazon;
Heh, I used flesh tones so that it won't clash with a Super Saiyan's yellow hair. Thing is, I've yet to actually make one...

Crazy Boy;
Yup, I use softening solution for any surface that is curved.
I use autocad and illustrator for the decals.
As for the Yoshi issue, please see my reply to badboytje88.

Great work Nick, your DBZ customs are just fantastic, I really like how Krillin looks, they are all spot on and I cannot wait for some more customs from you, who knows if I will ever get to doing my versions of the customs (was thinking of differant versions of Buu, they could be pretty interesting to tackle.) But, as of now, all I have done is a hairpiece for Goku, not sure if I should try casting it or what..

Oh yeah, and how could I resist.. ~Thumbs up!~

Wow, I can't believe that so many people haven't seen DBZ...But these are some great customs, are you planning on making Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo? I hope so because then you would have the whole gang... - Pac

Oh my Nick, these are amazing!

The printing and detail is just what one would expect to see from LEGO.

Though I never watch DBZ, I have seen commercials for the show and these match the characters perfectly!

Thumbs up from me too :)

Loki;
I'm working on it. Will update it in the custom's gallery when done. :)

Lamanda2;
Thanks for the comps!
I'm still waiting patiently to see your Goku (show us! show us now!). As for Buu, yeah I figured you would be up for the job. I'm was imagining Buu with a fully custom head and immediately thought of you! I would not be doing him anytime soon tho, simple fact is that I'm still figuring out where to get those pink parts for him...

pacman110011;
Yea, can't believe so few watch DBZ. *sighs*
No plans for Goku or Gohan yet, but what do you know, Piccolo is up next!

Daredevil;
What can I say; I'm a big DBZ fan!

I was wondering are you gonna make more saiyans?
Like trunks and brolly and most of all goku?

I was wondering if you were going Yamcha. He was one of my favorite characters. I don't really have anything constuctive to say except that he's beautiful.

Krillin, on the other hand is still really good, but I think he would have been better with a straight face, but thats just me. How did you find a spray paint that matches that closely? It looks exactly identicle. (sp?)

Turtle Hermet, is really good, but he needs his shell. At first, before I saw the name, I was wondering who he was. I reconized his face, but I couldn't be sure.

NickGreat, I am a fan of the old DBZ from which you are making customz from, but all of this new stuff really, well stinks. I was hoping to make some customs too, including Piccolo, but I guess I won't anymore. unless you are making a different version of him.

And it's Master Roshi guys,

babyjawa...

Crazy Boy;
Ah, yes, I plan on more saiyans..but who is Brolly?

babyjawa;
The orange spray is used is actually a little darker than the original. It doesn't seem too obvious because of shadowing.
Never be afraid to make your own customs; whether or not others are making them. But, uhm, are there different versions of Piccolo?

What I really ment was with his Cape and Headpiece on, and with it off, and besides that there is him combined with Nail and Kami.

This is Brolly
and what is auto cad?
I have to disagree with you BJ, I prefer Krillin happy.
Also Nick, Do you ever plan to cast your vegeta hairpiece?
because I have most of the characters decals done, But I can't sculpt.

Wow those are great customs as always. The decals look as good as lego's.

I can't decide which one i like best.

Wow, I love these DBZ customs of yours. I too can't decide which is the best of the 3. They look like they came straight out of the anime. Hopefully, super saiyans will be coming soon...

I use autocad only because i'm familiar with it. Don't bother learning that because it's not meant for artistic drawings. Go for Illustrator purely.

No, I don't plan to cast Vegeta's headpiece. Sorry.

oh, I just love your creations, and this topic, just have to check it out every single time I go to MCN, and about piccolo, you could use the white turban!

by pacman110011 on Wed, 06/28/2006 - 08:45
Yeah, you could make two heads- one with that turban and the other one with antennae. I can't wait to see him, he was my favorite character. Oh and the top center of the turban needs to be purple. -Pac

I would suggest sculpting your own turban for Piccolo Nick, just because that one does not seem to look like his, the shape is off a bit, as for his anennea, I would just include that in the decal.

You have a good point on the turban Lamanda, but i think that 3d antennae would be a lot nicer looking. Although I think that the turban could be made so that it fits on the head along with the antennae. -Pac

Actually, my Piccolo is almost done except for a some minor touch-ups. He will have a sculpted turban, if anything.

His antenae will be drawn. What I found to be a greater issue, were about his ears. After much deliberation, I've decided to forgo them. All my customs so far, I've tried to make them "Lego-like"; that was why I left out the ears and drew the antannae instead of having them stick out of a normal head stud.

Btw, here's a teaser...
