| Quality Content Rule: Gettin' Enforcedby Damien (Official Announcements)Okay ladies and gents. Having perused quite a few threads in the last three days, I've deleted a good score of nonesense posts, and have left sitting many more that -probably- should have been deleted. With Recluce's consent, the Quality Content stipulation in the MCN rules is now going to get a more stringent enforcement by me. Here's how it's going to work. . . if your post violates the Quality Content rule by either not adding anything to the conversation ("that's a cool fig!") or by being so horribly full of grammatical errors that no intelligent person can understand what you're trying to say unless they sit and stare at your message for 10 minutes ("he gis wuts goin on anywaz just sain hi"), then the offending post will be deleted. I'm not going to coddle you by PMing you to let you know, and I'm especially not going to edit posts anymore asking you to please fix your post. I'm just going to delete it. Plain and simple. There's two very easy ways to make sure this doesn't happen to you. 1.) Content! If you like a customization, a decal, a MOC, or what-have-you, say why. Write down what you particularly like about it, what you think could be improved, and any other thoughts you might have. Just saying "that's cool" is not, generally, sufficient. 2.) Pay attention in school! The English language is -not- that difficult to use adequately. I'm not requesting that any of you become scholars and masters of the written word. I am asking that you take care to make yourself understood. That means taking time on your posts, re-reading what you've written and possibly using a spellcheck program. Take your time. If you seem to be making a good attempt at this, that's all we are asking. Now, this isn't meant to pick on anyone or make you not want to post. We want you to post! We just want you to post something of value that the community as a whole can understand and respond to. Personally, I'm hoping that everyone who has problems in these two areas can revise the way they make posts and become better members for it. I don't know if any of the other Mod's will have anything to add to this, but if so - feel free to put in edits, guys (and gals). -Damien MCN Moderator of Customization Tips, Techniques & Questions |
