Weird or Not?

by Pharazon (Minifig MOC's)

I didn't put too much work into this, but I can't decide whether I like it or not. It's an attempt at making shoulder armor and mostly just a prototype, though I can't imagine the finished product looking much different. I need some constructive criticism here if you please.

First of all, I like it a lot! The design is decorative, but looks a little dangerous, too. Let me know if you ever get to the point of wanting to sell a few - I'm definitely interested in seeing the finished product.
That being said, I have to politely point out that he looks like he must have woke up in the dark and put on his girlfriend's armor. He's got quite the curvy figure!  ;)

yeah, that's awesome, but a little bit plain....um I dun even know how to make any custom stuff,I can't suggest anything to improve, but well....maybe try to put sth round the minifig's neck and extend to the middle of the torso, see if u like it or not

but anyway,it's already cool^^

also, plz let me know if u'll ever selling it

I like the concept.  Does the plastic run solid around the back of the fig?  If so maybe try to dip the design down below the neckline.  The only potential issue I see is having the thing pop off when you raise the arm above a certain height.

On the design side, it looks good but not spectacular.  Maybe flaring the tops out a bit?

What material did you use for construction?

Yeah I think it looks good but I also think it would look better if it had some torso armour to match and finally It would look good if you made a decal for it.

Very cool pharazon! I would try to have the points that go sraight up bend out to the side a little bit though.

Pretty cool! I think you should Make it do his neck fits in the armor, it would look better that way. I really don't like stuff that makes a minifig's neck too long

Thanks guys I appreciate the help. I added this picture without the distracting feminine armor (like no one else has rolled out of bed and put his girls armor on by accident before) and to show how high the arm can raise without interference. The piece is symmetrical so I don't think I can do anything a fancy as Ramus suggested, but I do like the idea of doing something with the tips. I think you mean it might look too bulky Shurtugal? I think I agree.

I think it might look nice with a decal or two. Maybe something to make the edges appear raised, with an image in the centre.

by yeroc on Thu, 03/09/2006 - 18:20

that's good!!!

i'd say to add a translucent element or two, but that's just me.

The flared points might be cool - everyone has been giving good feedback.  Have you thought about decals, or are you thinking metallic, or just staying flat grey? Also, were you designing it to complement  decal armor, or did you have body armor in mind? Just curious. With body armor it might look a bit bulky, but that's just me.
In other words, keep up the great work!

by Lamanda2 on Thu, 03/09/2006 - 20:23

I think you should leave it grey(no decals!)

what did you make this out of?

I like it! Actually, i've made an armour using a similar concept but a totally different design. If you think your's looks bulky, you should take a look at mine after I post it....

Sure, your design looks dangerous (to the wearer), but lots of times, aesthetics is more important than being practical when it comes to minifigs. :)

Did I mention I REALLY like your numenorian helm?

bloody awsome, i think its just me and im in no placeto critisize but i reskon they look almost to "pointy" this is only my oppinion and if you wanna ignore it fine but the overall finished product looks really great apart from the pointyness.

You guys have sold even me. I flared out the top points, so it's not so dangerous to the wearer, and it's being painted now. It will be black and silver and I'll post it when dry enough to handle.

Thanks Nick about the helm. I'm actually thinking I will envelop this armor in to my abyssal Numenorean project, I only get further from finishing that project the more I get completed it seems.

Lamanda- I made it out of a smoothed Lego epaulet and the armor itself is just some plastic packaging I had lying around. Funny how if you look hard enough you can find something to make anything.

Wow! I very much like the idea of such shoulder pads, however, I'd like to see them mounted to the arms instead of the neck. Otherwise, really cool design, and I approve your coloring choice (and that's a comment from a guy who spends more than an hour in the shop selecting his new jeans' color) ;). I really wonder how they will look painted and without the 'dangerous' parts...

I'm making a crashed tank from a milk jug. That armor is awesome! But it looks  a bit evil for a Numenoreon.

Wow thats a great minifig  how did u make it

by Pharazon on Sat, 03/11/2006 - 14:56

And voila!

Thanks for all the great feedback guys. I really like the modification ideas you gave me and I hope you will too. If it's a little evil looking, that was actually the idea. I have always pictured the Numenoreans elegant with a bit of a menacing look. They would probably have to, to scare off legions of Orcs anyhow. Just wait till you see my Ar-Pharazon fig, he could almost be a bad guy. It's also good to know I'm not the only one who spends hours shopping for the right pair of jeans ; )

You mean you don't have 40mins.? Well actually the airbrushing and sealing took a couple of days.

Thanks for the positive comments! I almost forgot about this thread because of all the custom parts in this project entire.
