3D viewing program

by mrberlin (WIP, Decal & Customizing Chat)

I just thought about this after the last post that I left… but is there some sort of 3D editing program where you can view the patterns that you are working in a 3D virtual environment? That just dawned to me. Right now I am working on making a Captain America mini-figure… but it would be kind of neat and handy to have a virtual reference as to what the designs that I am making actually look like in real time. What I am doing is simple, but it would be nice to see how the “A” on his forehead looks like on the figure, and whether or not a muscled chest looks better than a simple chest with the same pattern looks like just for comparison. Is there such a program? If so… where can I go to download it, and if not is there anybody that can help out? I just figured that this would be handy. I know that there are countless video game editors out there where you can make new skins for pre-existing 3D meshes… and I would assume there is something like that for something like this. Something like what I am mentioning would come in very handy on a site like this. Just to preview your patterns before you print it up, put it on a figure only to find out that you don’t like it. Is there 3D viewing program?

Although I don't think there is a program like this out there, this is a really neat idea, I suppose anyone with a little 3d knowledge could probably wipe up something like this pretty quickly.
