Little Armory Great-helm by Recluce
by Damien (Minifig MOC's)I ordered a couple of Jeff's great-helms a little ways back, which Recluce is generously offering in resin casts. Anyone who hasn't picked these up yet really needs to. Being made of resin one of the helms I got had a bit of flash (extra material) on the bottom edge which is easily scraped off with a fingernail. But out of the three I got - only one had this anyway.
The colour is black. I imagine Recluce can do them in other colours. So if you -really- want a red great-helm she could probably do it, but I'm glad mine came in black. I'll probably keep one black and paint the other two light and dark grey for some variety. Being resin it'll be really easy to paint and seal, which is a plus.
The fit is actually surprisingly good. When I first looked at them I was a bit afraid that once they went on a head - they weren't going to come off (I've had a couple of Red's helmets do that.. haha). But actually they fit snugly, but come off easily with a little "LEGO twist" (you know, that twist everyone does when taking off a headpiece? I just named it).
As an added bonus, the helms don't just look great, but they fit over almost every medieval-esque body armour. Click this link for a picture of my new helms paired with standard Euro armour, Little Armory 14th century armour, and samurai armour.
