The Terminator Endoskeleton

by Meebs (Minifig MOC's)

In the 'decal request' thread I kinda half-jokingly asked for a Terminator decal.... then I thought 'what the hey, I'll give it a go'.
What do you guys think?

Looks cool to me!  Could probably use some skeleton parts though, for at least part of the body.

I'd thought about that but I must admit, I didn't want to look like a cop-out with using say, battle droid legs and the like.
I'll look into it some more.
Cheers.

Very cool decal, some chromized skeleton parts would jazz it up though. It would be awesome get some of those funny light-up eyes , like Brickmodder uses(?), in its head.

Hmmm, that seems like a popular opinion thus far, skeleton parts.
I see they're of a redically different design to a standard fig in the sense that the legs are clipped on to the 'belt' section and the arms are straight. I agree, it would look cooler though I'm not sure which parts would look best added.
The above design was meant to be put onto a light grey standard fig without using chrome paint etc.

Perhaps some of the new IG-88 parts from the Slave?  Hmmm.... yes, that might just prompt me to open up that box.....

Thanks Daredevil, your words are much appreciated.

You know, I ordered a skeleton and it arrived today. I've been checking it over tonight and I've noticed the arms are fastened on with little ball joints. This makes them twist in all manor of directions but they're are ultimately floppy! They just hang there and are completely useless for 'gun-holding'.
The legs are quite nice but are permenantly fastened to the 'waist' band piece by way of a hinge-like joint.
I can see this is gonna be a BIG job that can either turn out quite well or a waste of two figs!

To answer your question Daredevil, I was gonna attempt a half and half Arnie-T800. You know, like when his face gets smashed in and you can see the skeleton underneith. That may prove too difficult for the likes of my being just a humble beginner, but that's what I'd like to do. If only I had a printer that could do silver.
A simple Arnie might be cool though.

Thanks again y'all.

ps, Slave I is way out of my price range at the minute. But I'll bet your creation turns out better than mine at any rate. *sigh*.
Don't you think the IG-88 looks too much like a Battle Droid sprayed silver?

Very cool!  One thing that can use help is that towards the bottom, the belly looks like it had a lot to eat.  In other words, it's kinda fat.  But anyway, very cool.  I give it a one and a half thumb up!!!

Very nice decals! I like the way your crome parts turned out. I agree with DD, using the skeleton parts would ruin the minifig. Check out this gallery for inspiration and keep customizing:

Hey, thanks again for the words.
Victor: To be honest on two counts regarding your post, the colouring you see on the decal at prestent is an attempt to make the pieces look rounder.
Please correct me if my theory is wrong, but I thought:
The fading from white to black would, when printed on clear decal paper, make a range from the figure colour (i.e painted chrome) to black! Therefore giving the impression of a curve.
That's kinda hard to explain, but hopefully you know what I mean.
The second bout of honesty is:
I've put some skeleton legs on him!!!!!
They're gonna be chrome so hopefully will look good. If not, I've rubbed away the end of my thumb for nothing.

Oh boy, it sounds like I could be shot at dawn for this.
I'll post a finished product, eventually(!) and no doubt make another if you guys thinks it's really bad.

What are we supposed to expect from this new MOC?  Did you use a regular torso or just a skeleton piece?

Meebs what about making both a regular minifig one and a skeleton one then no-one gets upset!

Good call DD.
Samri: At the moment, the design consists of... Regular torso with decal. Spliced regular shoulder joints onto skeltal lower arms and spliced skeletal legs onto waist band of regular fig.
At the moment, what with the spliced figures being of different colours, it looks a little like a regular fig who's got knobbely knees and rolled up shirt sleeves! I'm sure it'll look better all one colour.
Two different designs are probably gonna be made, one regular, one skeletal.

Picture, thousand words... all that:

Thanks CrazyBoy, I'm glad I could inspire :o)

I've realised a problem... should I want to give the guy a gun, he's not gonna be able to hold it correctly as his hands no longer rotate!
That may require an ammendment to the design.

by Pharazon on Sun, 02/05/2006 - 15:11

Wow, Rec and I knew what we were talking about after all. Very nice job with the arms especially, it actually gives him kind of a menacing look. If they were rotated 90 degress they would be able to hold a weapon no problem. Are you going to chrome the skeleton peices?

That is amazing!!!

And for the hands cut off the skeleton hands then get two white minifig hands snip the pipe section of glue to skeleton hand in position!

Hey presto a gun sligning teminator!!!

Thanks for that DareDevil, praise too! :o)
Considereing this is the first time I've ever chopped up figs and re-designed something, it seems to be going quite well.

Do you suppose, Daredevil, that if I did fasten some regular white hands to the arms, the arms would still be able to drop to the sides?

Pharazon: I was thinking about chroming the whole thing!

Another question: If I was to spray paint this guy, would I have to use primer first?

Cheers.

by Daredevil on Mon, 02/06/2006 - 14:08

Yeah i'm quite sure that changing the arms would work.and if it does'nt just blame me! ;)

If you want a list of all of chuck norris's enemys look at the extinct list

by Pharazon on Mon, 02/06/2006 - 15:18

I myself am very partial to priming pieces before spraying them. Also a good sealer. There's a brand of spray paint called 'Just Like Chrome' (I think its still sold some places) its very bright and looks pretty good. The problem comes when sealing, it might loose some of it's luster so I would recommend a high gloss sealer. Sounds like a lot for a single fig, but my opinion is one should be uncompromising when it comes to hobbies.

Oh, don't forget to mask off the sides of the torso or the arms might not swing properly. Taking a page from the DD book, if it doesn't work you can just blame him : )

Eeeh, thanks guys. I just hope it looks good when it's finished.
I've gotta get my hands on so much stuff though, like primer, gloss coat, silver paint.....

by TK-421 on Wed, 02/08/2006 - 19:25
I like the way you made those arms. I would like to see them chromed, I would also like to see improvement on the hips.

Earlier you said something about how the skeleton arms swing too easily.... just bit em. Seriously. bite the shoulder on the arm, than but it back on, and it should stay.Oh, and that is really cool.

Thanks for the tip Shadowviking though my 'arms swinging too freely' comment was before I did some cutting and added skeletal arms to regular figs shoulders.

by Samster on Sat, 02/11/2006 - 02:07
Just hack some exo-force robot arms onto the minifig :) (it might work)
