and you just colour the figs face yellow? do you have a picture of a pink face coloured yellow?

by Lamanda2 on Mon, 12/12/2005 - 20:08

no,i have not used a sharpie to color a pink face(good idea tho..)

i think it would work....of coarse it will not be the same color yellow...

it would probobly be best to try it on a head that you dont really mind ruining,or do it on the back of a pink head, that way if it doesnt work the way you want, you can just remove it with brasso or toothpaste.

edit**just tryed it,and it works perfectly! it turns out very ,very close to the yellow that lego has, finally,no more pink faces for me : )

just make sure you dont color in somethingyour not supposed too(like teeth)

also, does anyone know if sharpie wears off? i know it is "permanent" but it seems like it could still rub off.

yes sharpie rubs off, but it takes a while before it turns realy bad.

can you post a pic of the parts you coloured so we can look how good it turned out?

lately i am getting quite attached to my pinkies, i actualy like them better than the yellow figs

(i think)

Yea it should run off the face, but shouldn't nail varnish work to keep the sharpie yellow ink from running?

No, it can still eventually rub off.

So, you'll have to keep redrawing it.

actually, nail varnish will not come off,i use it on anything i paint(or color)and it will not come off,i have even scratched it alot on a test piece and it wont come off : )

and badboytje,it will take a while untill i can post any pictures because i do not have access to a digital camera...the last time i took pictures i borrowed one from someone.

^ Yay, Bunny. Ok click on your name, then click on edit, scroll down to signature, then paste him on your sig.

So will nail varnish work with sharpie?

yes, unless you guys are talking about something else i dont use.I just use clear nail polish(thats what you all meant right??)  you could probobly use clear acrilic spray too.

also,i had just found out that a silver sharpie works extremely well for things like worn out chrome swords,it isnt the same as they start out,but it DOES look better than a transparent one ; )

^ Lol, thats for that advice. My fig has been running around with his "ghost" sword. P.S. will gold work too?

well,i should hope so becuase i was planning on buying one : )

EDIT:I just used the nail varnish today ontop of the silver sharpie, and I thought I would let everyone know that ontop of the silver, nail varnish WILL smear it(I just HAD to find that out the hard way..)

I do that all the time. the Yellow Sharpie idea was mine. it will rub off eventually, that is why i once started a topic about this, and in it i aksed if any one knew a sealent that would work, but the topic never caught. I prefer the "dull Silver for non magic greatswords. also, there is this dark tan sort of sharpie, and when applied to non worn out chrome, it looks like shiny gold. yellow might work for this as well.

did you ever try a clear acrilic spray to seal the sharpie? I was going to try it but just wondered if anyone that it would work or not.

No, any sealent will smear the sharpie.

And on a side note, here's some before and after pictures I took.

i love the way aunt may came out and lupin too! this is great!

does it work on torso's too, for instance mary jane's torso because you can see some pink chest.

by Lamanda2 on Wed, 12/21/2005 - 11:03

That looks superb!  I wonder how an Episode III Obi-Wan would look like?  He definitely could use this treatment the most in my opinion!  I will have to try this out for myself.

P.S.  Deathstickman, where did you get that decal of Anakin's glove/hand?  Is it one of Jared's?  It looks wonderful on that fig.

by Deathstickman on Thu, 12/22/2005 - 15:14
Actually, that is my own creation, but it was printed by Jared.

I don't have it on brickshelf right now (it's a PSD), maybe Recluse could put it in the customs section.

by Meebs on Tue, 12/27/2005 - 13:45
So, you just colour right over the top of the exsisting decal with yellow sharpie?
I thought that would've discoloured the detail.
I hate the pink Anakin, looks much better yellow.

by badboytje88 on Wed, 12/28/2005 - 04:09
you have to be carefull you don't colour over teeth ore white bits in eyes

by Deathstickman on Wed, 12/28/2005 - 14:30
The decal is now uploaded in the minifig database!
