Exoforce on LEGO.com

by the enigma that... (Brick Talk)

LEGO goes anime, film at eleven:

Can hentai be far behind?

Seriously though, I continue to have mixed feelings about this line: good to see LEGO getting back into the space but at the same time disturbed to see LEGO once again apparently producing models that feature modern weapons.  The hair pieces are interesting (somehow I think the DBZ modelers will no longer rely as heavily on Sculpty after these new sets street).  I'll probably pick up a few of the smaller ones (7711 and 7705).

All those hair pieces look the same only different colors. It's a shame that Lego is heading in such an unnatural way so as to make these sets.

I am excited about the new line.  These look like decent mech / exoforce designs.  Mainly I am excited about the new molds that will come out.  The robots look like they could have some potential, depending on how poseble they are.

Personally I am NOT a fan of Anime, but the fact is that Anime is VERY popular and it was probably a very good move on TLC's part.

I hate sounding too negative, but, it just looks like more crap sets to me. Not even good for spare parts. Very dissapointed in Lego lately but I guess if it is what sells you can't argue too much.

I completely agree with Pharazon but I think that Lego should make more sets based on movies and I can't wait to see the Batman sets when they come out.

P.S. I love the new spellcheck Ramus, it's great.

This is rare but.. I disagree with Pharazon. Looking at the pictures, it -appears- that LEGO went the more positive direction and used mostly 'standard' pieces to build these sets. Meaning precisely that we WON'T be getting a whole bunch of useless 'specific' pieces and special molds. That, immediately, ups their value over a lot of the newer sets that include a lot of specialty pieces. I also don't see many bionicle-specific pieces, which I'm pretty happy about.

The new hair pieces look silly, but whether it's open to customization to make it look better.. I'm not sure.

And the Mechs themselves have grown on me from a child's standpoint. Maybe many of you can do better, so these mechs aren't very interesting. But I'd be willing to bet that most 8-10 year old kid's can't make bigger, more impressive and convincing-looking mechs.

And I'll re-iterate a point I made elsewhere: I, personally, do not like anime at all, but I still think these are decent sets. And I agree with Ramus that, with the current 'pop culture fad' that is anime -- TLG would be brainless not to pursue it. Not making an 'anime' line is about as smart as cancelling their bionicle line. Whether I like it or not.

The minifigs and there accessories will be great I think to well customizize but the mechs look pretty poor.

hey, I recently got a lego magazine, and noticed that there was chinese and japanese. Weird.

Also, they have officially announced the new star wars sets, if anyone has noticed from another forum: Slave 1, Tie Interceptor, B-Wing, and A-wing.

I have a translation on one of the Chinese characters.  On the leg of set 7708, the character means "Tiger" - appropriate enough for the orange mech.

More to follow, although RB and Arealight might be willing and able to lend a hand.
