Lord of the Rings Decals

by Aragorn (Minifig MOC's)

I'm making some LOTR customs, and first on my list is: Theoden, Eomer, Eowyn, Rohan Elite Guards, Rohirrim Soldiers, and some villagers. I have eomer done, and the Elite Guard stated. Here's Eomer. It seems like it's missing somthing, but i dont know what...help? I'll post the others soon.

Here is my Refrence pic:

Later, I hope to make a custom helm for Eomer. Coments are welcome!

Very nice! It is all perfect except it is a little closer to the left than the right.. It has a lot of good details on it, and the design is very close looking to the referance pic.

Just one breath... incase that's all that is left...

Very good, the only thing I can see wrong is that Eomer's vest is too bright in that pic, it should be brown or dark *dark* red. (plus maybe you could have some chain mail around the arms/neck.

Very very good job on the Legolas. I think maybe to make the dark green part a little bit down farther so that the tip touches the bottom of the decal. That is a wonderful decal right now so you don't really have to do that. It was just an opinion.

edit: I really like how you did the little leaves by the collar.

The leaves are supposed to be the pin that galadriel gives the fellowship in the extended version. Thanks for the comments

Aragorn: Remember the golden rule that "I'm sorry for double-posting" does not excuse a double-post. The edit feature is there for a reason. Gotta try to remember that so you don't get the Mods on your case.

Anyway, nice designs, though Eomer's torso doesn't look centered.. but that might just be my eyes playing tricks on me. I agree that it would look even better with mail around the neck and arms.

Eomer's armor looks very cool just needs to be centered is all. On Legolas I would make the brooch bigger and my only concern is I don't think Lego makes that many different shades of green. If you'd like I could post you some more reference pics for your Rohan guys.

Purpose is irrelevant. That's why the almighty master of grammar invented paragraphs. Just letting you know -- it's never fun getting scolded by the Mods. Or having your posts deleted.

Ok, enough people....

Aragorn, I think the armor looks great, it's not an exact replica, but it is stylistically correct, and really gives you the right feel.

I'm not feeling the legolas decal.... here's a few things I'd change:

1.  Lengthen the medium green part, down to about the bottom of the torso.

2.  Add a belt to the bottom of the decal (unless you plan on making that a seperate decal for the waist piece).

3.  The silver embroidery on the green needs work.  As it stands, it's too thin and not intricate enough.  See if you can find some Art Deco clip art and use it.  Art Deco has much the same feel to me as the Elvish scripts.

4.  Enlarge the "V" neck area in white, and see if you can add some detail to that undershirt, like the line down the front and the clasps.  Also, use some light tan to add some shading to it.  It looks a bit flat right now.

That's about all I can think of.

Reluce, what's Art Deco? Anyway here it is...i think it looks really good, but you be the judge. I've added a new scroll work desig, and a face. I'm not good at human faces so, I'll need some advice on his head. HERE:

Excellent job Aragorn!  I do like the redone scrollwork, much better.  All around, it's a lot better.

Art Deco is an art style popular in the states in the.... 20's I think.  It's very swirly like the elvish stuff.

Nice work, Aragorn!

I would make legolas' leaf brooch bigger (at least 2 times that size) tho. I think it'll look even better!

For face designs, I always `take inspiration' fron RBs work and from the Lego originals.  Doing this also helps with size issues.

Excellent job, your designs get better every time! I'd hate to harp on this note too much but the yellow trim on his gauntlets does need to be thicker to make sure it shows up when printed.

yeah aragorn, u da man. like someone said, fer eomer, add in some chain mail, ya no, it would look cool. Fer Legolas, i think u should make his face more detailed kinda, i mean, not like an ordinary guy, make him kind of stand out, with a face u can look at and say " hey, that looks like Legolas", ya no what i mean? but anyway, u da man!!

i dont know half of you half as well as i should like, and i like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

i think the eomer decal is good but i agree that it is too bright, eomers armor was more battle worn i would use mahoganny and bronze instead of red and yellow if possible, also, if one was planning to use weapons on the minifig i would include guthwines (eomers sword) swordbelt just some suggestions

if by my life or death i can protect you i shall. you have my sword-aragorn(movie)

good job on the legolas decal, its a bit more green than the actual costume was but i think it looks better, makes him look more like a wood elf nice work
