You should never be embarrased about liking LEGO!

Of COURSE you shouldn't be embarassed! You don't laugh at them when they tell you they play football or collecting stamps, right? It's just a hobby. The older I get, the better I realise that Lego isn't only for children. In these little bricks, everyone finds something different... Never be ashamed of who you are... That's my advice.

Nah. What's to be embarassed about? LEGO is one of my hobbies. Plus, I'm actually very proud of the fact that even as an adult I still have enough kid in me to enjoy 'playing.' The world is a cesspool of hate, suffering and violence because people stop enjoying themselves.

Plus, my other hobbies include philosophy, history, martial arts, and writing. Being able to quote Machiavelli while beating someone soundly with a blunted training sword tends to make one's hobbies unassailable.

Apart from beating someone with a blunt sword, I'd have to second Damien. For some reason I found the answer more complex than the question. Having an outlet for ones creativity is a great thing. Being able to ingest all the intricate beauty radiating from history, music, art, culture, nature etc. can be a hobby in itself, but having the ability to contribute in one's own capacity is more than most people look for or realize. When I was a child I thought as a child but when I became a man I put away childish things, but I still open the box and look through it every once in a while. Just because a hobby is anchored in what society has labeled a "childish thing" should not and sometimes can not detract from it. So to answer the question, embarresed no. On the contrary I fell very fortunate to have discovered an outlet that allows me to explore the limits of my 'contribution.'

My friend hates Lego, but he doesn't mind if I buy it. He thinks the KK is particurlary stupid becuase of their "Fritzy-Ditzy Helmets".

But I'm not embarresed to buy LEGO, I'd be embarresed to by Belville LEGO and MEGABLOKS but...

I used to get embarrassed when I was younger.. I think a lot of teens go through it. By the time I got to be about seventeen though I was pretty well past that. I guess I figured that if someone had an issue with it too bad. Now I bring my lego to work, and have a minidisplay on my desk most days. I also keep a minifig in my pocket - I say its for luck but really its to play with when I get bored. :-D
anyway, dont stress about it. if they are real friends then they won't give you too hard a time (hell I won't say they won't laugh at you because your real friends laugh at you all the time, but they keep coming back to be your friend. ) and if the are jerks about it then to hell with them anyway. (um you in the general sense not you in the literal sense)

anyway.. I guess keep playing with lego and if you get to embarrassed then send them to me until you outrow the embarrassment. :-D

You should only be embarrassed if you are playing with lego (after a certain age of course, or if you don't have any children).  If you are using it make diaramas, custom creations, etc, then no, don't be embarrassed.  :)

I used to be really embarrassed bout it too.
I figure it's all about peers. If you have a group with the same 'however uncool' hobby, it becomes cool.
It all comes down with whatever we percieve to be cool.

Don't fret. Some people think smoking and drugs are cool. But we all know it's not.

Bottom line is, be happy and proud of your hobby!

Gonna have to disagree with that... there's nothing wrong with playing with your lego.  I'm in my 20', and play with mine.  The new shooting missiles are great for shooting the cat and attacking "Catzilla".

I'm with Recluce. Nothing wrong with playin' with your LEGOs. What fun is building stuff if you can't play with it (and often destroy it in the process) afterwards?

I have never been embaressed about lego because I only have one friend and he likes lego too.

I play with my lego all the time. I do like a RPG or something like that with them.

Dude, if you think you aren't gonna impress the Chicas then you're wrong, you can make minifigs of the chicks you dig, then you can give those figs to them, just make sure they are single or you've just dug yourself an early grave.

Dug yourself an early grave.. how? By soliciting the attention of a woman that's taken? So long as you don't do anything untoward -- that's really not a problem. I know very few men that wouldn't consider that an innocent gesture and let it go. Unless I'm missing your point entirely.

Yeah, legofreak, I agree with you. And one should never deny him/herself the pleasure of making 'thew-thewww' noises when imitating gunfire... 8D

Yes, and lets not limit this to only playing with lego at an older age.... picked up a couple of the "Sigma 6" GI Joe figs last night, and they rock!  Totally enjoyed sending my Snake Eyes down his Zip line.  And yes, once again my "Cat Commander" became the target of an unprovoked attack.  And you wonder why he likes to eat my toys??

Snake-Eyes is the man. I have the original G.I. Joe theme song on my computer -- eventually I plan to buy the DVDs of the original show as well. Unfortunately I can never seem to find Sigma 6 when it's actually on! (Here in Canada the channel that carries it gets bumped around sometimes, and the show regularly switches times.) -- Is it good?

And Recluce is right.. I certainly don't just have LEGO stuff. I have tons of Lord of the Rings, Marvel Legends, McFarlane, and old X-Men figures decorating my house. Not to mention the troop of painted (and two converted) Black Tree Miniatures minis marching across my computer desk.

I have no idea if Sigma 6 is good or not, hadn't heard about them until I found them last night while cruising TRU for Vikings.  I've got the DVD sets of the original GI Joe cartoons, they're awesome!  Yeah, people may ;augh a bit when they see our apartment, full of toys and cartoons, but I really don't care.  Its what makes me happy, and I'll just get rid of those supposed "friends" who don't understand about being a child at heart.

Right, on Recluce. A friend that doesn't understand is no friend at all. I'm lucky though - I'll soon be able to keep all of my toys on display without making the entire place look like a tribute to cartoons, since I just bought a pretty big house (it'll be built by early-mid 2006).

But even then.. I have a feeling many of my toys will find their way into other parts of the house. I mean... I'll finally have a big bath tub... and I have LEGO boats... who could resist that lure?

Man I just saw the sigma 6 figs at TRU, and snake eyes rocks...
I have almost every snake eyes fig since the eighties (only missing the lame ass ninja ones with the karate chop action spring. those ones sucked.). I really need to get that fig, but lego vikings come first, then lego KK2- I love the two box set with the black doors - niiiiice.
and I too have a house full of toys, though now that I have two kids most of them are packed up.
although alex and I still have battles from time to time.. :D

I'm gonna go hang out at Freak's house sometime. I'll pick up Recluce on the way. We'll have a mighty war. Haha.

I just checked out the SIGMA 6 figures on YoJoe.com and I gotta say.. I'm not impressed. First they did the weird thing where they stopped using O-ring waist construction on some figures.. and now this. I was hoping they'd stick with the normal G.I. Joes.. don't fix what ain't broken, in my opinion.
