Batman

by LEGOteuthis (Brick Talk)

I haven't been here in awhile; everything's changed! Aaaaah!

Apparently, LEGO's now coming out with a line based on Tim Burton's Batman films.

Check it out!

No need for proof, it was all in the same press release from Lego, I read it at our LUG dinner Wednesday night.

Hey,Minimates are better than any Lego man! Look at the difference in PoA! Minimates = 14 and Lego = 7. From where I stand, Minimates blow Lego out of the water. So, all in all, Lego figs suck and Minimates rule!!!!!

Hey guys... be calm.

No need to make fun of the interests of others. Unless that interest is Spongebob or Harry Potter.. in which case -- go for it.

Ok, number 1, if you EVER even think of posting crap like that again, i'll ban you faster than you spell the word ban.

2nd, we are rather tolerant of folks' opinions here... but this is a customizing board and the largest majority of us are only interested in LEGO brand minifigures.

3rd... REALLY bad way to get aquianted with the community...

I'm suprised that logan wasn't banned yet.

This is supposed to be a friendly lego customization site you know.

As for batman, it is pretty creative, although i really wouldn't like spongebob lego, unless maybe it was for the duplo sets?

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Spongebob Squarepants!
Absorbant and yellow and pourous is he!
Spongebob Squarepants!
If nautical nonsense be something you wish,
Spongebob Squarepants!
Then drop on the deck and flub like a fish!
Spongebob Squarepants!

good move on lego's part for the little ones... get them going early... will work well with the dora and bob lines in my opinion...

The spongebob series will be interesting to see where they go.  Dublo or system, I think it's great either way.  But if its system.... think of all the great underwater stuff we'll get....  Mmmm Fishies.

You know what? I really don't care if you ban me! I only came to this site to look at the crappy Batman figures and get a good laugh out of them. I then proceeded to the forum to see what was being said about these  things. I then saw the comments on the MiniMates(which are way better then Lego figures will ever be!!!!) and responded. In every which way, MiniMates are better that Lego figures anyday of the week, month, and year! So ban me, 'cause I really don't care!!!!! The only set I would buy(if it is to be released) is an Arkham Asylum, so I could use it for my MiniMates, and then I would eather sell the figures or throw them away.  With that I will leave you on this note: Lego sucks and MiniMates rule!!!!

by uubergeek on Mon, 10/31/2005 - 22:40

It's true.. the more exclamation points you use, the more important your statements look. ~rolls eyes~

In any event, I'm totally disinterested in Batman sets, and I'm morally opposed to Spongebob sets. I'm hoping the Batman sets will come with interesting new pieces and accessories though. The Spongebob sets I will refuse to buy on principle alone, even if they come with old grey Euro armour, old grey shortswords, and 25 fully armoured knights in every set as a free bonus. But I imagine they'll be Duplo, not System.

LOL! You really know how to "win friends and influence people" don't ya? Anyway, I collect both LEGO and Minimates. You were right in your original post when you (albeit rudely) pointed out the superior articulation of Minimates over the LEGO minifig. I wish minifigs were as posable. However, LEGO didn't design the minifig to be an action figure, but rather an 'accessory' to their brick building system (Art Asylum did the opposite of this - producing 'clone'  bricks because a construction license was the only way they could produce DC characters for their Minimate action figures). But...LEGO quality beats Minimate quality any day of the week. I much prefer the hard abs plastic of the minifig to the soft plastic of the Minimate. The accessories are so thin my Minimates swords or staffs bend like they were holding cheap Hollywood rubber props. And the 'Mates' themselves...! It's not uncommon for hands to be so loose that they won't stay in the arm socket. Or touch a lower arm or leg and have it fall off (I'm speaking of the kind of pieces like Man-bats or The Things lower arms, not the normal lower arm that is pinned to the upper arm). Or hair pieces that won't stay on the head. I haven't glued my Minimates together, but I have heard of some that do (and I may yet). And when posing Minimates, it is way too easy for their arms or legs to pop off. Sure they are easy to put on again, but if you let your kids play with them (as I occasionally do), you'll end up with figures that are permamently missing appendages. So, until Art Asylum can address these quality issues, Minimates will take a backseat to the LEGO minifig in my household.

And to  get back on topic - I've wanted LEGO to get the Batman license for years. The huge specialized pieces in the C3 line were a great disappointment. If LEGO does this theme right, it's going to be great seller.

Please don't ever do that again... I just burst out in uncontrolled laughter and disrupted the meeting in the conference room next to my desk... that was bad.  I swear, one day these people will fire me for my weird Lego habit... they just don't understand!  The wiggles would be horrible in Lego.... but remember, Brasso is the savior of Lego licensing mistakes.

I must say that I can't wait for lego spongebob the only reason I don't watch it anymore is that I have seen them all, the movie is budget though.
What exactly is C3?

I wonder if the spongebob series will be available in the States only? Since I live outside of America and have no idea whatsoever what that series is about and what the characters look like :(

What?  The wiggles are cool!  I loved the wiggles when my kids watched them.

Fruit salad, yummy yummy :)  To each their own I guess.  I would love to have Sandy's helmet from Spongebob, or  flying dutchmen peices.

by NickGreat on Fri, 11/04/2005 - 01:49

I've never watched Spongebob, but I have seen his merchandising items.

I personally can't fathom why something so ugly and dumb looking (no offence to Spongebob fans) can be so popular,  but it does seem to be VERY popular with the kids.  Then again, I tot that the Smurfs were really cute when I was a kid...

Yeah, its good for kids, and that's the primary thing.  It's harmless, colorful, has a catchy theme song, and an annoying voice.  That's what makes it so popular to kids....  I think it was a smart move on TLC's part.

An animated sponge with torn trousers really disturbed you that much? Personally, I like Spongebob, though I haven't watched it in a bout a year, so maybe it's gotten really bad.

Back on topic: even if you don't like Batman, think of all the great pieces we'll get from this line! A reptile/human hybrid fig (Killer Croc)! A half combed, half messy hair piece (Two-Face)! I can't wait to see the sets.
